61 valiant with 170 slant 6. New single barrel carb., new fuel pump. Every time I start the car hot the engine is flooded. Starts fine when cold. Thought it couls be from pressure in the tank, put in a vent but the problem still exists. Any ideas?

Make sure the manifold heat control valve in the exhaust manifold isn't stuck. Make sure the carburetor gasket is the 3/8" thick one, not the 1/8" thin one. Do the Fuel line mod. And, tell us more about the carburetor you installed: Is it really new, or is it a "remanufactured" unit from the parts store?

Changed gasket under carb to thick one, did fuel line modification. Warmed the car up and restarted it a couple of times. I think the problem is fixed. I will take the car out on Monday to confirm. I appreciate the info from people more knowledgeable then myself. As I am a newby here I will probably have more questions in the future. Thanks again.
Blake
