Been A While Huh?

Well I said last year when I put this post up that it would be about a year Before I could get all the parts gathered to do this Project.
Well it's here and I ordered the rest of the parts yesterday.
I have a Jeep 4.0 TB that I got at a junk yard.. It was minus the tps and IAC Valve So I got those on rock auto.
I have a locked out distributor that came with the intake I bought from Romeo Furio.
I just got my 6 into 1 Headers powder coated.
and I got a bunch of other extras from the junkyard to make this project a reality.
I got the MS II and Relay Board and all associated parts and cables from DIYautotune.com I also Got The innovate lc-1 WB02 Sensor and Gauge from them. Matt Cramer was very helpful in setting all this up at DIY.
I Am letting the experts at DIY assemble the MSII board etc. and the relay Board.. Circuit boards and little tiny pieces like that are not my Forte. When I get all that stuff in the mail I will post pics.
Thanks Matt!
I also Got The Fuel Pump MSD 2225 and boost referenced Fuel Regulator MSD 2222 From Summit yesterday too.
Now I have to start fabbing up the mounting for the TB.. It will need to get onto the manifold somehow..
Thanks for everyone's help up to this point!

Greg, read my lastest post on the new fuel tank. You're not done shopping yet. What you have done looks very, very promising though. I am interested in your Ford ignition stuff. Let us know how you get that to work. One thing I keep seeing as I browse info on this is that most sixes out there are odd fire set ups. LIke I say, keep us in the loop on that one.

Lou you are welcome to Stop over the House After The race Saturday Evening.. To check it all out - I was working on the Mounting Plates today - I have no ability to weld or work with aluminum so I am going to Just use scrap steel and 3" exhaust components for the intake tract. -- I will bounce some Ideas off of ya when you're Here!
It looks like you wont be in here Friday night - But if you are you can stop over then too.. -- I' lll Pm you my Cell.
Thanks, Greg |

Megasquirt Relay Board Injection Wiring
(Sun Jun 29, 2008 5:40 pm)

Alright, I have my car Parked and All the parts are now acquired. I have since removed the Carb intake and Exhaust manifolds.
I have Put the Megasquirt relay board in the engine bay and started to wire up the Harness to the Relay board.
So Megasquirt runs 2 banks of injectors. Which cylinders go on bank 1 and Which cylinders go on bank 2???
Is similar to the firing order? for example:
Firing order (reading Down)
1 INJ1
5 INJ1
3 INJ1
6 INJ2
2 INJ2
4 INJ2
Or Should the Injectors Be wired this way::
1 INJ1
5 INJ2
3 INJ1
6 INJ2
2 INJ1
4 INJ2
Or is it another way???
Pics coming soon!
Thanks, Greg |

Pics :
Fuel Pump & Regulator
Intake and Fuel Rail Mock up on the car
This is what I was worried most about in terms of Fitment - The a/c and The Fuel rail living near one another - It will work. BTW my car has a C-171 Compressor -- It tight up in there!
Relay board installed! And being wired up!
O2 Bung Installed in the exhaust System that I Fabbed up almost 2 years ago.
It's 3" from the collector to the turn down. - Possibly too big. But great for when I get a turbo!

This is what toyota does:
http://www.grubinski.com/grubinski/automotive/toyota.manuals/22.pdf
Page 15.
But it looks like they don't do 2 groups of 3............
I'd look at this page and the surrounding pages to get an idea of how to generalize the problem and then pick something that makes sense..... (then let us know the solution )_________________ Ed

Ok, I figured it out.............
Printed off page 15 and converted the 6 cylinder to 2 groups of 3 (similiar to the 2x2 graph above it..........
Made 1 injector pulse at just before the 360 mark and the other just before the 720 marks on the graph, avoiding the shaded areas just like the 2x2 graph
You get 1 injector for 1,5,3 and the other injector 6,2,4_________________ Ed

| I'm not too sure there are that many wrong pairings on a slant six unless you do something really weird - I've got 1, 2, and 3 on one bank and 3, 4, 5 on another. BMW used a "odds and evens" pairing on their sixes. I'm not convinced there is an advantage either way. |

MegaSquirt and the relay Board are Alive!

Well I have everything wired up now except the undercar stuff: the O2 Sensor and the Fuel pump have yet to be wired. ...
I have verified in mega tune that the tps sensor and the IAC Motor are working. I calibrated the Coolant Sending Unit - The MAT Sensor Is bad - Off the to Parts counter to pick one up..
Most of the day today was spent Fabbing up the Throttle body / Intake tract. Lots of Trial Fitting / Welding. once that was done it was time to finish the wiring. Once I get my remflex Gasket in the mail I will throw on the headers and Get it all back together. I still have to Figure out all the fuel routing in the Engine bay. I did verify that the injectors are firing. I will check the hall sensor out tomorrow..
Pics:
Intake Tract Finished Being Fabb'ed Up! all the throttlebody and MAT sensor wiring is done.
Injectors Are Wired and Working!
Off to the parts store tomorrow.
