| I was wondering if anyone has tried to convert the slant six to coil on plug? I have been considering it for my next project.

| distributorless igntion will still need a cam/crank sensor for the trigger... and an ecu to control it

I put some passing thought into it. Right now I'm running Ford EDIS controlled by megasquirt. It would be trivial, electric wise to convert to COP. No major (electrical) re-engineering to do. May have to run dual modules to get more current on the primary side. Mounting the coils would be the trickiest part. This would be kind of cheating though, it would still function as wasted spark.
I thought I read about some megasquirt firmware that could drive individual coils per cylinder.
What ecu were you thinking about for COP?

It's something I plan to try next after my turbo upgrade. It shouldn't take nearly as long as the turbo has taken. My plan is to do a dyno shootout and see how coil on plug compares with a MSD 6A firing the distributor. I've already started setting up a crank trigger for it. |

| Yep it is. Easy way to tell - coil packs have one wire for the positive feed, and one negative wire per pair of coils.

| Not sure what you mean by mated pairs. There are diagrams on the msns/msns-e sites of which plug towers equate to which pins on the harnes connector.

1 5 3 6 2 4
1 & 6
5 & 2
3 & 4
You'll notice that the members of the pairs are split between the front 3 cylinders and the rear 3 cylinders and the symmetry of their locations_________________ Ed

I know this is a silly ? but how deep are the spark plug tubes? Or another way of asking is how long would the coil need to be?
This is a 3.2 chrysler coil

| i would assume a little shorter than that. you gotta rember that those coil on plugs typicly go through the valve cover as well so they gotta be a bit longer...
