I have a 82 D150 with a slant 6 and manual trans. I would like to take all the computer and smog parts off. Can anyone give me a list of what parts I would need to put a 2 bbl on the engine. Always had Chevys, but really like this little truck. I had thought about a V8 but why not give the six a chance. Thanks

I have a 1982 also. The Hei conversion to remove the leanburn computor works great.I used the positive coil wire as the trigger for the relay to Hei module and coil.Use the search option here and you should find all the answers how to do it.

A previous owner of my B250 had done just that, but without fully understanding what they were doing. One consequence of that was permanently destroyed catalytic converters blocking the exhaust. The blocked exhaust takes away enormously more power than the air pump that they took off (in this example). Plus replacing a full exhaust is not cheap.

My advice is to research on here each and every component before you make a decision. But I would tend to leave it there unless there is a good reason to remove it.

The lean burn "computer" though would be high on my target list. I retro-graded to EI and it made more difference than I ever imagined it could.

Good luck and use the search. It takes time but it's been absolutely invaluable for me.

I concur; do a search on here and you'll be amazed at how much slanted knowledge there is. Someone had hacked the lean burn off mine haphazardly and like stated above, the cat converters clogged up.

Do your homework before you reach for the tools.

Like what was said before , keep air pump. It is not taking away any power . The best bet is to read until your eyes bleed , and then decide what works best for you, that is what I did.

Good luck
Dave
