CEEJ... That was discovered on the trans when Andrew and I were putting the motor and trans back in the Dart...Might have been given the wrong trans back.. we are checking into it... None the less it was a broken... So I replaced it.
It was split about 3/4 the way down, so on closer exam.. it was just a slight tug and there you have it..._________________ BIG T

Well, got my shop...so far so good. I've cleaned out half my garage (I think I can now see the shelves...), pulled parts out of the magic shed (I can now see the sunroof feather duster I bought 8 years ago...).
Tomorrow my buddy and I are going to ferry 3 Dusters to the shop.
3 complete engines, 7 heads, all sorts of misc tools and machines...half the magic shed, and one garden shed to go...then I can spend a month organizing the piles of 'what the heck is that?!?!'...
Oddly I found a bin of distributors I didn't remember I had...
Sounds like a good first project to help pay the rent... clean up a bunch of distributors and recurve them.

I installed two lower ball joints in the Dart yesterday, and they tightened up the front end nicely.
After a short test drive exhaust sound was heard from under hood. One of the collector gaskets failed because I must not have fully tightened it back in April when installing the “Good manifold gasket”… Got that swapped out as well today._________________ 67' Dart GT Convertible; the old Chrysler Corp.

All 3 dusters are now happy they are out of the weather and in a nice enclosed space.
Caught up with my buddy down the street from the shop and got the blue duster's exhasut pipes welded up. Took it for a spin down the country road...saw what I thought was a black cat crossing the road in front of me turned out to be a rodent of the black and white stripe variety...figured it was an omen and took the car back to the shop and called it good for the afternoon...
Took 3 more truck loads of tools, fenders, hoods, etc to the shop...
Magic shed is almost empty, garden shed hasn't been touched, still have 3 full motors and a couple of shelves left in the garage to bunk down, might be completely moved by the end of next week...maybe sooner if my body doesn't argue too much tomorrow.

Using up some parts, on the shelf.
Picked up 170 block, and parts, from machine shop on Fri. Trw pistons .060, cut for valve relief. Rods reconditioned, and pistons mounted. Fitted rings. Installed full groove mains and Lunati Chrome crank.

Lunati chrome crank? Someone actually built cranks for the slant? I haven't heard of chrome plating cranks in a long time._________________ '72 Duster 198 stock cam, 3:23's Hookers

Lunati did this crank for me back in the '70's. It is a Mopar 170 forged crank, indexed, stroke equalized, and the journals hard chromed at standard size. It was in my "stocker" motor.
It has been a good piece. Many 1/4 mile passes.
PS: I contacted them a couple of years ago, to get another one, and was told they were not interested.

If you have a good crank man they can do all that work except for the chrome._________________ '72 Duster 198 stock cam, 3:23's Hookers

Quasi Bro in Law, Andrew "KIDD Howard came up to the house today from Eureka to assist with the Dart.... After some funny stuff happening... We got the Motor fired up and running..DAMN IT SOUNDS GOOD!!!! Discovered some small things and took care of those....
I was a very happy person at the that point!!
Then to top it off... received a call from my son at Ft. Benning, Ga at Basic Training.. It felt so good to hear his voice...He sounds very good and his tone in his voice tells me his spirits were high, Which is very comforting!
I had told Andrew and Jessica that they need to comeback often... they brought my some very GOOD LUCK!!!
I am a very Happy Man!!!_________________ BIG T

| Pistons/rods installed and bearing clearance checked. Cam installed, but still needs to be degreed.
