Mounted the tires I bought from Andrew up on my alloys today, dropped three heads off at the machine shop to get sudsed up and checked out.
Squirted oil all over a couple blocks I have sitting in the wings.

Helped Travis fix his Plasma cutter, and lopped off a big chunk of scrap as a test run. What a monster! Shocked Big old Thermal Dynamics he picked up at auction.

Took my Nephew for rides in the Hooptie, and Alfa Romeo, then put the Alfa in the trailer when the rain hit.

Tested fuel pressure on the Hooptie. It's fine. I'll tear the Carter down tomorrow to see if it has a bunch of guck in it. Time for a clean up anyway. Something is making it go lean. Might be floats, might be something plugging up.

Had a nice phone call from CNC-Dude. We talked about all kinds of stuff.

Had a good day. Wink

Nice car Dennis! Very Happy

I pulled the Carter down today. The bowls are full of something nasty looking. Black guck. I wonder if the mandatory Ethanol is disolving the foam block in my fuel cell? If that's the case, it's getting through, or has blown through my fuel filter. Driver's side secondary jet was partially plugged. Blew it out, but the inside of the carb looks like it's been drug through a coal mine.
I'll pick up a kit for it when I'm in town tomorrow, along with a new fuel filter.
The top gasket has a split near the fuel pump right on top of the primary booster. Sigh. Time to scrub her up shiney, and put it back together.

CJ

It looks a lot better in pictures than it really is Ceej. Embarassed

Torsion bar mount is rusted out of the passenger side crossmember, as is the floor around it. Rear frame where the spring hangers mount is suspect too, but the front frame horns appear good.

Fenders have the usual rusty places along the top, and the quarters are bondo from the body line down.

I put a battery in it and primed it, it ran for a while, sounded good.

Not sure what is going to happen to it yet. Confused

today I ended up getting my "built" 904 for miss Emma, Kinda doing a copy of a friends small block build. Dumping her power hungry and bloated 727 tomorrow. Nothing wrong with it, just slow as hell off the line and I think I will do much better with my dual manifolds and 500cfm on a offy intake now. I also got the Mopar performance deep pan with drain plug. I should grab a quick shot of it in the car tomorrow.

I was NOT planning on the 904 being ready so soon so money from other projects had to be yanked to cover the new trans, even after the 727 being traded in. Embarassed

Anyways now I will hold 12+ qts of atf and I have a Upgraded Torque Converter .. so in the long run, this car should be a nice daily driver with the power to get her ass off the line.

today was a good day!

I have been so busy talking to fellow slanters that I have not got anything done on my 4 door. but at least I got two problems done at once, one was figuring out carburetor transport to Oregon and the second was finding a set of headers for Marilyn, I had some issues with my first set. Shocked (theft by tweaker) I am still hoping to get that trans in today! But so far .. it's another great day to own a slant six!

Happy 4th everyone!

N

EDIT/ PS: I taked to a couple more /6 guys that are COMMING to the aug 5th meet, some 64 dart GT parts they need to swap ... so I just passed on Phone #'s on the meet n greet flyers. We hired extra help to .. help us clean it the shop.

Impressed the neighborhood kids... 9-10 year old I guess, hey were eyeballing the car from the end of the driveway as they were riding their bikes around the area... Once asked if I had to get permission from the "POLICE" to have my lightbar on the car... I then showed him my RETIRED FLAT BADGE...

ONE SAYS ... I TOLD YOU HE WAS A COP!.. They seemed to like the car and asked if they could look at the inside of it... So Here I am with 4 kids sitting inside my car with me watching from outside of it. Just seeing the smile on their faces was enjoyment!

Then I started it, after they had got out and stood away from the car... Funny when you see children get so excited they cannot control their laughter.

Then I fixed a small oil leak on the oil pressure line... and double checked for a leak at the rear driver wheel... NO LEAK!!...

Nice! Wink

When we had Chase's Duster jacked up on one side for Edd to weld the exhaust pipe extensions on I told Chase, "That's the way it's gonna look when you launch up at Woodburn." Very Happy

Slant specific: We re-routed the fuel line on Chase's Duster to get it away from the hot headers and discovered that the fuel pump had likely been leaking... and is now SPEWING! Shocked Laughing

Slant related: Okay,... loosely related... Rolling Eyes I made my reservation for my birfday present... At Mario Andretti Racing... Shocked Very Happy
