That is good news in light of your recent apartment "mucking out" saga… LOL_________________ 67' Dart GT Convertible; the old Chrysler Corp.

The snow melted enough that we could get the trailer put away. Loaded up all my slant stuff from Larry's shop back in, and stuffed the trailer back into the equipment yard. I need to go over and put my tire covers back on.
Heading out to move the Hooptie out of the driveway so I can do some maintenance on Linda's grocery getter.

Bought a Electric Winch yesterday "Just in case"! Could have used it last July for sure! But I was lucky and had a great group of people to assist in the loading... It would have never happened without them given the fact that I was 2 months post Major knee surgery and on crutches! (TIBIA REALIGNMENT AND TITANIUM PLATE /SCREWS INSTALLED)
If I didnt say it last year...I am saying it know! THANK YOU KILLER BEES FOR YOUR HELP!!!!!!!_________________ BIG T

Terry as I was elected to do the steering for the trip onto the trailer (I was the lightest person), it was my pleasure to be of some help in your time of need.

Installed the head unit for the stereo in the Duster. Turned it on, and... boy those 3 1/2" speakers are sure tinny. Sounds like 1978, wait BTO just came on, it is 1978...
Also installed the duct tape seat covers. Silver Gray is a nice contrast to Green.
18 days till Vegas. The Duster is ready to go....

New Shocks

In another episode of "You Get What You Pay For", I installed a pair of Bilstein shocks on the front of the Swinger yesterday, replacing the crappy KYB's that have been there since the front end rebuild. HUGE difference in ride quality. Feels very much like a modern car.
I've got .890 torsion bars, an Addco sway bar, 225/45-18 tires, and it's lowered a few inches. I've been hearing for years that upgraded torsion bars need much better shocks, and it's not that I didn't believe it, but I was paying $8-12 per shock as a kid, so the KYB's were more than double the price already. Till now, $100+ per shock has always been more than I could swallow.
These Bilsteins are supposed to be for cars with a 2" drop, so I used the FABO discount and paid shipped $207 for the pair from PST. Well worth it. I'd say it was the most notable performance improvement since the Super Six and Dutra Duals.
Now if I could just find another $200 to do the rear... _________________ vm

Thanks, Vince. Guess I need to try some Bilsteins...
I am in SD, and will be visiting madmax/6 later this week in LA. I managed to ship a complete Alum block to another board member to start some mods for him that might work for me or others.... fun...

I am planning to take the car to the Big Bend Open Road Race this year - once again as my Flag Station / Gate Guard platform. This will involve about 600 miles around West Texas over a weekend. To prepare, I've been working off a list of issues related to safety, reliability, efficiency, and comfort.
The passenger vent door and hinge had separated from the vent/heater core housing. The rivets held, but the fiberglass disintegrated. The repair involved masking tape, JB Weld, and pop rivets. Not the traditional trifecta (baling wire, duct tape, and JB Weld) nor the modern (superglue, zip ties, and Sugru), but it appears to have worked. I did elect to relocate the holes to get into good fiberglass. JB Weld is good stuff, but it doesn't get along with rivets.
Then I made the mistake of pulling up the carpet for a look at my floorpans. Yep, I now have a couple of pavement inspection ports, the largest right where my heel rests. Oh, well. It's an opportunity to learn more about welding, right?_________________ "When you find a big kettle of crazy, it's best not to stir it." - Pointy-haired Boss
