Is this a waste of $$? MP valves.

I have a basic built up slant, 60+ off the head 4bbl/headers, ISKY cam.
Now i went out and got a set of MP "oversized" /6 valves. And I was bumbed out when i held them up to a stock one. I didnt do my research...
These are 1.7" intake (stock is 1.62) and 1.44 exst (stock 1.36). Is such a small diffreance in valves even going to be noticable? I already powered this head...was just going to pull it again to put these in.

Ten years ago I removed my head and installed the same valves. I did some small port work and set the head back on the engine. It ran about .250 faster. So I guess it was worth the money. I still used that same valve on last years race engine which ran a 12.120 @ 108 MPH. The only reason I am removing them is because I need more installed height for the new cam.

A 225 needs all the head flow help it can get, these valves and a pocket port job will make a difference.

Hey Dave, info for you

Hi Dave,
I've got one of the MP ported heads that they made a while ago. I suspect it uses the same valves. While searching for more installed height for a new cam, I used Hughes Engines offset retainers to install their double spring at about 1.80 (have not measured it yet) on these valves. I am using Mark Goodman's roller rockers and have enough room above the retainer.
If you (or anyone else) want details (part numbers) let me know.
regards,
mark

The "fast" race cars dont use valves much bigger than that.

Regards Mark ?? Not sure about that statement ?
I also have a set of Mark Goodman's rocker arms. They have been used now for four seasons and still look like brand new. For the new engine I will using a set of Comp. Cams retainer that have .050" more installed height. Now I can't wait to try this new engine out.

I just went to my local Mopar dealership, looking for the oversize valves. He said they were 'NS1', which means no longer available. So, are they available somewhere else?
