| To get a good massage I just pull a plug wire and sit in aluminum race seat naked and find the right rpm.Mark

Mark, There some things we just don't need to know or think about. Moving on, and back to my car.
I am using one of Ryan's carbs right now, but am looking for a 600 Edelbrock of my own. I have one contact about one, but if anyone has one let me know, just in case that one falls through.
Almost afraid to ask, But are "all" carb rebuilders the same? No good ones out there? I see National Carb has electric choke 600 Edelbrock's for $189. Tempted just a bit.

Last week I figured out what was happening. This Saturday I got to put everything back as it was originally. All the stuff I tore off and disconnected was fine and it needed to be put back.
I removed the points style distributor, and installed my HEI system. I hooked back up my tach wires and my low oil pressure shut down switch. I finished tiding up a little bit behind my instrument cluster and have all the gauges and lighting working. I then topped off the radiator and hit the switch. I ran it for 20 minutes to break in the cam and set my timing at 10 degrees before. It looks to have about 30 total. May need to weld up some slots later. Dropped it in gear and the wheels turned! Hooray!. I can't really run it trough the gears too much because the spring perches are just tacked in place. My real welder friend is stopping by Tuesday to weld them in permanent.
I found it hard to believe that every single thing that I put in worked as it should and I didn't even have any leaks. The Mitsubishi electric fan switch kicks on at just about 200 degrees and off at 180-185. I did have a little scare. When I went to fire it off the first time today, it just cranked and cranked!! Now what!! Oh I forgot to turn off the low oil pressure switch by-pass. Flipped that and away she went.
More fun to come. See you at the banquet!!

Stupendous! 3 mo to M-D so plenty of time for tuning and shakedown.
See you next weekend!

Welder friend stopped by and finished welding the spring perches on that I had tacked in place. I repainted all the stuff he welded and then put the wheels back on the rear. Fired her up while still on the stands and dropped her into reverse. Cool the wheels go backwards! Now 1st & 2nd & 3rd. Cool all three gears forward that is a good sign. Dropped her down off the stands and backed it outside (just to say I did) And then pulled her back inside. Left 2 appropriate black marks on my garage floor!
Next major item is Front end alignment.

Yes , but wish I didn't. Just going to pull it out and put the spool in anyway. Not planning to drive anywhere just yet.
