Post subject: Kick down linkage adjustment ? (Mon Jul 22, 2002 3:19 pm) Reply with quote

A friend of mine and I just installed a Super six setup on my 74 Duster with a Holley 2280 2bbl and Dutra Duals. I am using all the original standard linkage parts for a 2bbl slant six and it all seems to works OK.......

However the transmission does not "kick down" when I push the accelerator peddle to the floor at any speed.

Can anyone give me an idea on how to adjust the "kick down" linkage to get this to work?

Its the standard Torqueflite A-904 transmission.

Thanks

Julia

Though I'am not very familiar with the supersix linkage, if it is like ma mopar's other stuff, it should go like this: with the carb accelerator linkage twisted all the way to wide open throttle(WOT)& the tranny KD linkage pushed all the way toward the back of the car, the rear of the slot of the slotted link(that connects to the throttle stud) should JUST slip over the stud. In other words at carb WOT, the KD should be at the full rearward position. If it is full KD too soon, it will phsically prevent your carb from reaching WOT position.
