I think I might have made up the 3250 without checking when I sent those new records to Ryan. The worksheet that I send into the newsletter shows 3200 for the class D minimum.

I don't remember specifically when/how we came to the upper limit of 3199 for C class, but even at that it is 150# more than the three lower weight classes.

It should cover a lot of the more serious street/strip cars out there. I think my street dart with full interior and no lightweight parts whatsoever weighs in at 3250# without driver.

Mark's gonna add enough weight to have the gas records in A, B, C AND D! :D

I just changed the last record sheet to say 3200 lbs for D class. I was thinking it was 3250, but I was at Lou's house today and he told me it is 3200. Lou also weighed my car for me. 3380# with me in it, so I can cut 180# out. I was hoping to set an 1/8th mile nitrous record at elk creek, but wasn't able to get that working. Charlie also broke so i'm not sure if he was able to set a nitrous record (he broke on what would've been his backup run). I think there were a few other 1/8 records set for the D class that will need turned into Seymour.

Thanks, guys. Charlie did make a 2nd pass and he said it was in the 8s, so that slower time can be his record.

You think your car is heavy, my '68 turbo Dart is a portly 3455 lbs with me and a full tank. I doubt I can get it close to 3200 without sacrificing luxury+touring car status. I am brainstorming....

Thats good for Charlie, at least we will have an 1/8th mile nitrous record in the books, and you will have the unlimited record too. I'm sure you'll find a way to get some weight out of the Dart without losing the touring status. Thanks for everything this weekend it was a blast.

Do I understand correctly that I could build a tube chassis super high compression race car set the A gas record and add weight over the rear axle and then set every record in every other weight class? Add nitrous then set all the nitrous records too? I don't have a race car yet but I would like to know the rules. Seems to me that the higher weight classes were intended for the heavier street style cars not for rails/race cars and the lower weight classes are meant for the race only cars? Is there a distinction between classes or is it open for a race car to set every record?

The way it's written now any "doorslammer" car can set any record as Mark is starting to do by adding weight. As long as your car weighs in with driver at a certain class and you back it up.

We had gone around and around a few years back with trying to get more "street" cars involved. There were as many opinions on what "street" meant as there were cars if I remember correctly.

The only class that makes a distinction on the type of vehicle is the AA super lightweight sub 2000# class that was just added. That class is just for rails, bikes and other interesting contraptions that are not "doorslammers".

AA includes doorslammers too, but it is hard to get them that light... There are a few out there that could maybe make <2000lbs.

I stand corrected. Thanks Lou.

I do remember that Dale Rose had to add some weight to his Arrow to meet the minimum weight for an A Class record now that you mention it.
