sounds pretty good kev.be sure not to buy a turbonetics carb. hat, they are such junk I can't believe turbonetics sells these. The inlet hose would blow off at 5-7 lbs of boost.Be sure to invest in a GOOD wideband air-fuel ratio gauge like my AEM before you even start tuning. An exhaust temp gauge is also a good idea._________________ V8?? | Sounding good! Extreme velocity makes a good hat. Some have used spectre. |

I just looked at the box my hat is a spectre, I have to buy the air/fuel gauge once I get close to driving it anything to help tuning this would be sweet It's my daily driver so I want to try and avoid as many problems or detonation as I can. Keeping my fingers crossed that things go well.
I read that ryan "66 turbo valliant" did vent tubes 8'' into his carb hat? what is that and what would that do?

| The vent tube extensions can help lean conditions.....I tried them but was way to rich with them. All they are is extensions of the vent tubes up into the incomming air from the turbo...usually brake lines made to adapt. I did the BRPV mod to help my part throttle |

The spring is removed from the PV and then used to keep the PV closed rather than open. The chamber behind the PV is drilled into from the side of the main body and a vacuum nipple installed. Boost is then referenced from the carb hat to this chamber via the nipple. Boost opens the PV now rather than vacuum. You must also enlarge the power valve channel restrictions.

Also search turbomustangs.com as well because there is a ton of info out there about the subject |

Ok so that metal arm you made with the spring holds it open the part im not getting is how the boost is gonna push it open from the other side of the metering block or where would you be drawing the boost from to open the pv? I'm a little confuzzled I read the link and looked at your picture sometimes it's hard for me to grasp these kinda things if i'm not holding the carb infront of me to figure it out.
Does that metal arm move or is it stationary by the bracket under your main jets?

I agree with shaker, extreme velocity makes a very strong, well made carb. hat,but it will only fit a race type carb. with the choke horn removed.I bought one,and it wouldn't fit a 390 cfm holley 4160 with a choke.I am now running the spectre' carb hat,but I don't think the manafacturer intended it to be used for boost.I've run 12 LBS of boost with one without a problem, but i'm just giving you a heads-up._________________ V8?? The metal arm(stationary) actually holds the PV closed (as if it had vacuum applied) so no fuel flows. Behind the PV is a hollow chamber that you must tap into (by drilling). You have to tap the carb hat and add a nipple. From the carb hat nipple you can reference the fuel regulator and the BRPV chamber. In boost situations, the carb hat pressure opens the PV and introduces additional fuel to the engine. |

I just noticed you have a Demon BT. Barry Grant says they are good for 18 psi with a front PV. Before you start drilling try it and see. I have a 575 BT on pops 318ci and haven't had any problems yet with 12 psi. My PV's are blocked on the slant. Still running out of fuel until I put in the tubes (3/8" alum fuel line). Also running the 14 gph Meth jet. This is the biggest one available from Devils Own. My advice is to buy one (meth kit). You will have the urge to bump the boost. I ran 12.80's with 15 psi, 2bbl and the original China turbo. Still ran a 50/50 at that point. Later

| Ryan is right. As we have said before, start with 20* total timing(or less) and watch your AFR. Bad things happen if you stay in it. |

My engine has 8.7 comp ratio,12 lbs of boost,no intercooler,My own electronicaly controlled water/meth injection system.mildly ported head with 1.70/1.44 valves 0.450 lift cam,215@0.050 114 lobe sep. 3.55 gears wide ratio 904 trans,2,400 stall converter.I've run 14.65 with this set-up.I beileve it will run high 13s if I get it sorted out,but I still have many tuning issues. That 390 cfm holley is bogging bad out of the hole, and I've tried different pump cams and shooters, but my 60 foot is 2.6-2.7.I also have a problem with it laying down in high gear which is probly caused by the lack of an intercooler_________________ V8?? Thats wierd my 390cfm holley on my na motor does the same thing and I cannot for the life of me figure out why it bogs when i punch it but if i ease into punching it performs fine. Ive tryed everything multipile times from squirters/pump cams/ jets/ pv. The only thing i can think if it just doesnt supply the fuel needed unless i just jet the dam thing super super rich but its a street car so i lived with the bog to stay on the less wasting gas side.
No intercooler how come? that sounds like it runs pretty good though, what mph on your 1/4 mile runs?
Hopefully with the help of an A/F gauge i can get this demon tuned up real nice for the turbo motor.
