Greetings Slanters,

I had a long story about this car on the old slantsix.com, which I guess is now gone for good. Lots of changes to the car in the last 3-5 years (as with the 5 yrs before that!).

Latest news is the turbo install, which should be running when the snow melts in MN. The car is under the "foster care" of my good friend Neal Hines in Minneapolis, MN.

See these flickr links for pics of the car and turbo setup.

http://www.flickr.com/photos/16910097@N06/sets/72157625924551471/

Basics of the car:
225 engine 0.030"-over
8.8:1 comp
1.76/1.50 valve ported head (M. Jeffrey)
244 MP cam, degreed at 104 cl
Megasquirt EFI (multi-point) since 2003 (orig 24 lb/hr Delphi injectors, now 38.5 lb/hr for turbo)
A500 automatic with factory adapter plate and 2200 stall converter
3.55 tracloc Ford 8" axle
Front 11.75" discs with Wilwood calipers
0.890" tbars
Edelbrock IAS shocks all around
Front Addco 1.125" sway bar with custom mounts
Afco alum radiator and 14" elec fan
20:1 Mopar steering box
225/50-15 Yokohama ES100 tires on Weld rodlite 15X8" wheels

Turbo setup (soon to run!)
Turbonetics T60-1 turbo (need to look up specs) - same as Drake's Simca turbo
Tial external wastegate with 0.4 bar (5.8 psi) spring (for now)
Ebay blowoff valve
Stainless exh manifolding by Rick Snell at Uweld.com and 3" stainless downpipe
No intercooler
AEM WB-O2 gauge/sensor

Car weight before turbo was 3340 lbs with 18 gals of gas, spare tire, and Lou + helmet on board. Add about 35 lbs for turbo kit.

Best time with current NA motor setup is 16.36 @ 82 MPH. Shooting for 14s with 6 psi, then who knows...

Cheers,

Lou

Hi Lou, when reading up on the specs above, and you tell the car has been raced for many years, I half expected a to see a somewhat weather-beaten old race car when following those links, and not a show-room-condition beauty! That is one very, very nice car!

Olaf.

Carful Lou boost becomes very addictive Twisted Evil once you experience it its like drugs all you want is more and more and MORE AND MORE.............................................well as you can see it may allready be too late for me. I just counted my accumulated means of boost and I have 7 turbos,2 superchargers and 2 nitrous kits, 2 of them are mini turbos that I got for boosting my extra lawnmower and snowmobile,I even have a turbo for my wifes minivan that she won't let me install . the count doesn't include the already installed power adders, so save yourself

Awesome thats a cool setup for the plumbing.
No intercooler for piping reasons? or design
You may need a heat shield for the hotside right next to the intake could get a bit toasty in that area. The dei heat shield i got off ebay is awesome i can put my hand on the turbo after being driven it works really well.
Excited to see what it does.

Kev

Thanks for your input, guys.

Yep, I'll probably get a heat shield in there, Kevin. Nice chatting with you last night.

Intercooler is left out for simplicity for now. Once I get it running and tuned up and used to the boost, I'll put in an intercooler and up the psi. I'm sure it will be tempting to turn it up, but I seem to be amazingly self controlled these days...

Lou

Looking goooooood Lou!

Our turbo builds are gonna be somewhat similar. You will have an edge with the Jeffries head and EFI though. I wonder how much of a difference an intercooler will make. I'm gonna be running one from the start. Our engine overbores and cams are the same, and our initial boost goals as well.
