| My stock 3-speed '66 Barracuda ran the 1/4 in 19.82 sec at 68.72 MPH. That was with a p*ss-poor valve adjustment (idled so bad I thought the carb was junk) and a trans that did not like to be shifted quickly at all. My '67 Valiant would run about 19.3 stock. After head work, intake and exhaust upgrades it would run about 17 flat. I'm curious to find out what the Barracuda will run with the 174ci race engine.

I understand. I did not shift any as I don't have a tach, just put in drive, someone stated that their wife ( using just drive) ran more consanstant they did shifting.
my first run the trans did shift into 3rd, but after that it never got into third, still wine'ing out in 2nd @ 65mph..is that stock? seems kinda high for a stock shift point. also had 60 lbs of tools/extra oil/trans fluid/1 gallon ice tea..so maybe I can lighten some, and simple hot rod cool can/aluminum carb heat shield too. |

Generally Jon If you want to go faster most street guys Will Take all the Junk outta the trunk, Including the spare and bumper jack.
Prolly Safer too to not have anything to slide around in there if something bad were to happen.
Ruster Went a best of 19.1 With A stock engine and 1bbl carb with a 4:30 Rear..

I removed the air cleaner as it felt as if I was running out of air..thanks for any/all help.my cars number was 231 painted on windshield and drivers side rear window.

Valiant and Barracuda are both 225, manual 3-speed cars. The 174ci engine is to propel the Barracuda at Bonneville.

It looks like you are leaving on the green light, and that dragstrip is using 0.500 is a perfect light. You need to launch the car (floor gas, release brake) on the last amber light in order to get the car moving by the time the green hits.
Looking forward to hanging out at M-D!
Lou

Lou, look at the lights for the other lane, it's a .000 tree. There was a few that were under .500 that weren't redlights.
My '68 Valiant 200, 225, 904, 2.94 gear, 13" Sears tires installed in 1976, 280lb driver , ran a best of 18.19 leaving it in Drive. Upgrades are 2.25" exhaust and Mopar electronic ignition.

well in TnT some peeps just jammed b4 the lights were midway..never a red light. seems that peeps just wanted to see what time their car pulled. |
