It's been awhile since I've checked in and I hope all is well with everyone. I've had quite the chain of events develop in my life which has me considering selling my Barracuda. My girlfriend Sandie was diagnosed with stage 3 colon cancer. I've been by her side instead of working the hours that I usually work. This is why I'm considering selling.
The car went into the shop in the spring to have some motor work done and I've just got it back and thought it might be best to sell it if I could get a dollar amount that wouldn't make me cry to bad. With the economy the way it is I'm wondering what I might be able to sell it for. I have it insured with an agreed value of $25K, but I not sure really what the value is or what I could sell it for. I'm hoping you guys have your finger on the pulse of the classic car market and could give me a ballpark idea. I'll list some specs below to give you guys an idea of what I've got. If you could guesstimate a dollar amount for a 1-2 month sale and a 6-9 month that would be great.
67 Barracuda Nochback that HAD a slant 6.
K-member is a'74 spool type
Rear end is an 8-1/4 with 3.55 gear.
Disc brakes in front and drum in back.
904 trans with low gear set, extra clutches and steels ect.
Higher stall street steel billet torque converter. (2500-3000 rpm)
Gear Venders Over-Drive unit
Classic Auto In-Dash AC (not under)
FAST EZ-EFI self-learning. A child could drive this car if they could handle the HP, manual steering and manual brakes.
Early '72-340 block with factory forged crank. Custom 50 over forged pistons. 9.5:1 CR. Edelbrock RPM heads (#60779), Comp hydro roller cam (XR268HR), roller rockers (1622-16), Edelbrock air gap intake (#7576), Msd Dist (# 8534), MSD 6AL, MSD Timing computer (8981)
TTI Step tube coated and polished headers (TTI340A-C5) with 2.5" H-pipe dual exhaust. (A25HWM6769-CUE)
New fuel tank.
BeCool cross flow AL radiator with twin Spal puller electric fans and Spal modulated fan controller.
100 amp internally regulated alternator with wiring upgrade.
Torque Thrust II wheels (15") with BFG RWL tires
Body paint is in very good shape. Very minor bubbling on frontend passenger side next to the "P and L" in Plymouth.
No rust at all topside or bottomside
20% charcoal Lumar tint sides and back.
Viper 350 alarm with POWER LOCKS.
Front 1-1/8 sway bar in the trunk still in the box.
Interior is in pretty darn good shape. (Black). Carpet is ok but doesn't live up to the standard of the rest of the car. Head liner is a little better than ok but could be better. Seats are perfect.
Dash pad has NOT a single crack.
Funny thing is now that I've taken the time to write out what I've got, I really really would hate to sell her LOL.

| Would have paid close to $20,000 for the car with the slant. Now its just anouther converted car with all the wrong stuff.I am sorry to say I think its only a $10,000 car cause it will cost more than $5,000 to make it right.MY OPINION.You did it they way you wanted it,and thats perfect till ya wanna sell it.Mark

You might find someone who will pay $20k, but I'm thinking $10-14 is more like it. Great car for sure. You could also try Ebay first with a high reserve and see where the bids go??

General rule of thumb for a performance car (unless it is a really high end rare car) is that you will get 25-40 cents on the dollar when you sell it.
People have finally figured out that a lot of the supposed "high dollar" sales at various auction venues were nothing more than shills.
Watch the sales now, Hemi cars that would have gone high 6 figures a couple years ago aren't even being bid to 100K.
Still, all you gotta do is find that one person....................

Wanted to give a little update on the Barracuda and Sandie. Sandie's been doing chemo since October and has another 6 weeks of the poison left to go. She seems to be doing great and all looks good so far.
Money was/is in short supply, but I've held on to the Barracuda. I really love the car and couldn't just give it away, especially after putting $12k into the engine, never mind the other $14k in upgrades and 8k originally paid for the car. Those numbers only include whats still in the car and not any spent on Eileen and related parts. I will say I learned so much building Eileen. Learned things that I would have never learned building a V8. To build most V8s, just buy the parts and follow the recipe, for the most part. Building a slant forces you to learn because the recipes and high performance parts are not common.
Anyway, the Barracuda went into storage many months ago. There wasn't money or time to spend on fine tuning the EFI 340 that's in it now.
Bringing her out of storage and home next Friday! Won't be spending money on it though. Planning to adjust timing, it's curve, and fine tune the EFI settings so I can drive it a little. Looking forward to a little tinkering.

How's Eileen? Still smoking and towing cars to the track?_________________ 67Cuda,FAST EZEFI,340cu,CR=10.25,RollerCam&Rocker (XR268HR,#20-810-9)(#1622-16)(EddyRPM#60779,#7576), (MSD6AL,#6425) A904, GearVendorsOD, 8 1/4,3.55:1, ClassicAir

Glad to hear things are going well! Went through a scare with Linda ten years ago. The nerves tend to get a little frayed when things like this happen. She's able to get around pretty good now. For a while there it didn't look like that was going to happen.
I finally got the Hooptie to stop smoking. Pulled a hard vacuum on the bottom end at high R's. Forced the rings to seat. Darn gapless things. Never again!

Bren,
I'm glad to hear Sandie seems to be on the mend and will be through the chemo soon. My Dad went through cancer 2yrs ago and is thankfully still in good shape.
Yes, cookie cutter builds don't teach you much, as you correctly know. We all learned something from your Eileen build too.
As it turns out, I have sold the Slantkota (w/Eileen) to fellow Slant 6 racer Ryan Covalt. He is driving it frequently with it, towing, and racing. I think it still needs rings, but the motor is strong. I coaxed a 15.42 in the 1/4 out of that combo with a 2.76 rear gear and 2500 stall at 3250 racewt. Doesn't even get close to 3rd gear in the 1/4. Still lots more left, esp once the rings are fixed. 14s should be no trouble.
I have a new '64 Valiant project from Jethro Senger in FL, actually, and that has replaced the Slantkota's spot.
All the best,
Lou
