my friend recently bought a 65 mustang. he replaced the plugs wires cap rotor and battery. you can hear the starter turning over and even with a squirt of gas in the carb it wont fire.

Cap, rotor, wires and battery. I'd guess it's the cap. I'd think it'd make noise if it was 180 off, or if one or two wires are bad; but if the rotor to cap distance is too long it wouldn't do anything.

Did he keep all the parts, so one can eyeball them?

Certainly some truth of that vintage Ford, but in this case FORD = Found On Road Dead…

We had a 1998 Continental, only wrenching was for outer tie rod ends, and struts in 135,000 miles. Oh, a set of plugs at 100K, front brake pads, and a new battery one month before it got traded for a 07 Nitro…

Ford is making a lot of good product these days.
