"Idiot" lights on 1975 Dodge Coronet

| Got a "new" ride. Been going over it thoroughly and next to the dash indicator lights that say "Fasten Belt" & "Brake" there are two labeled "Catalyst" & "Check EGR". Was there some sort of sensor that would actually make the last two come on ?? Just wondering..

the Check EGR light was tied to a switch in a module that was put inline with the speedo cable, when you hit the programmed mile indicator it lit the light, where either A) the Dodge tech used a screwdriver to reset the module or per some 1976 bulletins they removed it and installed a normal speedo cable.

Sorry no help there, my 1976 Electrical manual shows the other lights and that spot on the dash indicates something there but there is no light or circuit for it in 1976...(must've been problematic).

closest thing I could find for catalyst:
"The expected catalyst life is 50,000 miles, provided that the engine is kept in tune and unleaded fuel is used.
To keep the catalyst from being overheated by an overly rich mixture during deceleration, a catalyst protection system (CPS) is used on some 1975 models. The system consists of a throttle positioner solenoid (not to be confused with the idle stop solenoid), a control box, and an engine rpm sensor"
Maybe an idiot light to have it looked at to make sure the "new" cats were still good after a certain point.

Thanks guys for all the info ! I much appreciated it !
Eric-- Yup one more for the stable. This is my daily driver and is getting a thorough going over to let it perform like it should. It's a 50k original mile car with alot of original chrysler parts on it (38 year old parts). So some replacement/ rebuilding is in order..

Given that info, the system would probably act like the "fuel Pacer"system where the rpm sensor would signal the solenoid to keep the rpm limited to a certain level to keep the cat from over heating...and probably light the idiot light if the throttle and rpm remained past the factory setting/comfort level.
"Hey honey, we should back off the accelerator, the cat light just came on...maybe we should go to the dealer and get that checked out, I was only doing 90 mph for the last 30 minutes up hill!!!!"

It's funny you brought up the "Fuel Pacer System", as this car has it and it functions like it should.....

I'd be interested in your fender tag codes to see what "packages" you had installed.
If I remember right on the fuel pacer the driver's side fender turn signal will light if the vacc. reading at the carburator is below 6"hg (meaning "get your foot off the pedal! You're wasting gas (and polluting)!!!!"

the last two lines after my previous findings is this:
"Any time that the engine speed is more than 2,000 rpm while decelerating from highway speeds, the solenoid is energized and keeps the throttle butterfly from fully closing, thus preventing the mixture from becoming too rich."
Seems legit So nice living in indiana,(thick country accent) "it got 4 o dem tires and an egine son?" yes sir! "well hell, go on and here ye regeestration 2"

E24=225 slant six 1 bbl
D34= standard A904 Transmission

C=225 slant six
5=1975
A=Lynch Road Detroit, MI
190714 = Serial Number
LY6 = Inca Gold Metallic Paint
N1Y3 = N Class interior/Straight Bench Seat//Gold Color
000 = Full Door Panels
429 = Production Date April 29, 1975
087058= Vehicle Order Number
V1Y= Full Vinyl Roof Gold Color
U = USA Market
G01 = Electric Heat Rear Window Defogger
H51 = Air Conditioning with Front Heater

M15 = Door/Qtr Panel/Upper Frame Mouldings
19118-189563 025 309476 = Numeric Sequence for Lynch Road plant-Gate Series and Line Sequence for assembly.
A few articles note that Lynch Road also didn't stamp all the codes for equipment on the tag, so a Fuel Pacer and Cat Convertor code can be on the car, and may show up on the production sheet under the deat/behind the glovebox, but may not show up on the fender tag.
Cheers,
