| Iv got a 1985 d150 with the slant six in it, runs really good except for tge recnt lifter problem, im 20 male and live in idaho, also this was my first truck, had a couple questions about how to get better mpg with this slant 6, only gets about 15 to the gallon,or so, and it seems like im laking power, when freeway driving the littlest hill in overdrive will slow the truck down, if any one could poibt me in the right direction would appreciat it thanks, will post pics latter.

Welcome!
Because of the gearing/tire size/and .73 ratio of the OD,you will need to downshift when going up hills. Best way to fix this is to put a lower gear in the rear end(numerically higher) You probably have something like a 3.55,and would be better off with a 3.91 or 4.11 gear. I have an 87 D100 with 3.55's and I plan on putting in 4.56 gears, but I dont really go over 65 mph.
Do a search for super six and HEI on this site for ideas of how to improve power. Makes sure that your in good tune, new spark plugs/wires/rotor/cap etc....
Have fun,
Jared

| Does the truck have lean burn? That could be a big part of your problem. What part of Idaho are you from? I have family in the Boise and Twin Falls areas.
