So I'm reading about the cancelled Elk Creek race and the return to Mason Dixon in October...
Just wondering, why not a Slant 6 points race at this show in Dinwiddie, VA?
Mopar Madness at Virginia Motorsports Park, Sept 22-23, 2012.
The show is put on by the Tidewater Mopar Club.
Seems like a perfect opportunity to get your car count up with plenty of Mopar fans watching!
Decent Interstate access: I-85, I-95, I-64
Maybe it's too late for this year, but I'd like to know what it would take to make it happen...
Would anyone be interested???
(Although, I guess Will might have an advantage )
Thanks!

If you are interested in a race in that area here are some things to think about and check out.
1) Check with the track and see if they would be interested in hosting a Slant 6 series race there. Try and get a feel if they are genuinely glad to host a race or not. Some places just don't want to bother with us,
2) See when they would allow us to come. Is the Mopar event a good fit for us and them.
3) Will they allow us to run our own event. Random ladder...etc?
4) Will they put anything into a purse for us as a payout. Will they let us use the payout however we want?
5) Do you have a decent local base of cars that will attend ?
6) Are you willing to do the legwork, be the organizer/coordinator of the race?
Find out all the info you can and if you are still interested, send the info to Lou Madsen, or start a discussion thread on the site. Then when we meet in Pigeon Forge to discuss the 2013 schedule we can decide if we want to do it.
If it was to become a reality, the Covalt clan would definitely try and come, probably with 4 or more cars. It is 4 hours from us.

I must have been typing while Rob was.

Remember we did discuss this second race at M-D at the banquet and on here extensively. I think adding another race into that last month of the schedule this year may be a bit much (My opinion). But if there was a decision to add that race next year we could forgo the second race at M-D. At least discuss it.
We also had the whole month of June open this year without a race. Soooo.
It comes down to someone taking the bull by the horns and taking charge. No one else in the North wanted to do it at another track up here so we have the second M-D race that I set up in Oct.

We held Slant six points races there in the early 2000's. The track was in excellent shape and very smooth as I remember. The track personel were the exact opposite. They didnt make us feel welcome at all. Probably not the same people there now, hopefully.
Tks Ron
