Just like the heading says. Please post here if you are interested in a second race located in the North East somewhere. If you have any ideas where you would like it held at post that as well.

We would need to have someone to be a point of contact and coordinate with the track. But first let's see where or if people would want another race.

Lou has suggested a possibility of Lebanon valley New York or Englishtown, NJ.

Also I see out West they run some of their tracks 2 times a year. We could run a second time here at Mason Dixon, perhaps late in the year. We already have run there 3 times and they have treated us great. They are willing to have us back, and of course I could be the contact person. We have had nice turnouts as well. I can pretty much guarantee 6 cars! Laughing Laughing Guess whose?

Also 75/80 Dragstrip is in Monrovia, Md. South East of Frederick, MD

Let's here from you!

INTERESTED!

Any slant race that is less than 6 hours for me is bonus..

I would perfer mason dixon, 75-80 or New york.

Towing to Etown with a trailer on the turnpike would be toll heavy with another 10% tollincrease this year it will prolly be like almost $40.00 with 4 axles... Just a thought. Also Etown has Noise restrictions (I believe) which might make some cars have to buy or run a muffler?

I'm interested! I've got to say I think E-town is the worse track I've been to and I've raced at about 14 different tracks on the East Coast. The facility is excellent, but it's not a very "friendly" place.

I would suggest considering Atco and Cecil County. These are two of the fastest tracks in the country. There is no discrimination based on what class you're running and your car, parts and trailer are much safer.

That all said, I'll likely show up at any track I can get to in under eight hours or so.

Sounds like E-town is out. I've never been there, just thinkin' out loud.

M-D or others mentioned all sound cool to me.

Pittsburgh could be another possibility, if they've acquired some brains or we are ready to try again...

Things still run slow @ pittsburgh In my comparision to other tracks... also If we go there on a Mopower events weekend they will forget about us... I will drive to the other tracks to get treated better and have a more faster paced show.. They are doing track improvements@ Pittsburgh but it's still the same management.

Let me know if there's interest and I will see what we can do.. Maybe we can go on a non mopar weekend. Also Brian Droschak might be interested too.

Has any of the displeasure with the Pittsburgh track been relayed to them? Are they aware of the slowness of their program? If they just don't care about us because we are Slant 6 racers, then I'd be hesitant to go back. We pay to race too.

That being said if we decided to go there again. We probably would come and give it a try. Here is the Covalt Clan Car count at the different venues. Of course a lot of this depends on the weekend. Cecil County also looks promising. FZmax is pretty close to there. And I think Phil Stoneback would not be to far away either.

Pittsburgh - 3or4 cars
Cecil County - 3 or 4cars
2nd Mason Dixon race-(Maybe in Fall) 6 cars

I am obviously predjudice towards a second Mason Dixon Race. But with good reason. we have a good local base of cars (10-12) within 1hour and they want us there, and treat us very well.

Please keep talking!

Rick

I was at the Pittsburg race in 2006. I didn't see a problem with the track. We had a rain problem, but I thought the track really busted their butt, to get the race in. The track manager drove a borrowed car in the slant race, and allowed me to stay over an extra nite (handed me the keys to the gate), as I had lift my glasses in a car, and couldn't retrieve them till after working hours on Monday. He also let me use tools in thier workshop, to try and repair my engine, while I was waiting around on Monday.

PS: I don't know if I would have the time or funds to make Pittsburg.

Would a race at South Mountain Dragway be an option? It is an 1/8'th mile track so it would give some more chances to set 1/8 mile records. I know it probably wouldn't work on the mopar day, but maybe later in the season?

A 2nd race at Mason Dixon would be great too. I would personally like one at the end of the season when the weather is nice and cool... maybe have more records set.

If the track is within an hour or 2 of where I'm at I could bring up to 4 or 5 slant six vehicles (dart,duster,dakota,2 rams 100s). If it is farther away I would still try to make it with the Dart, but obviously couldn't bring the other vehicles.

Maybe a South Mountain Slant race in conjunction With the Carlisle Weekend??

There are always tons of slant cars at Carlisle that are not on ther forum and or not going to any of our races either..

Maybe that's what you meant by MoPar day???

I like the 2nd mason dixon race too! It's a crap shoot to see if I can make it to anything in the fall, but I can try.

I spoke with them and the All Chrysler Nationals Friday night is already to busy for them to add us in as a seperate class. The other thing is that they normally only run 1 day a week except for Memorial day and Labor day weekends. That day is on Sunday. So any 2 day races would be out.

So I don't think that will work out. I would like to have a few of us show up at their Friday night race and run in the normal program. That could still be fun.

You can go to the track on Friday morning early(7:00AM) and drop off your race car if you want. And then go over to the car show until the afternoon and then return to race.

Just a few thoughts as far as tracks go in the NE..

Cecil County Drag way - Rising Sun MD.. Near the PA / MD / DE Lines
Approx. Elevation - 341' - 200' Lower than Mason Dixon..

Maryland Intl' Raceway - Budds Creek MD - Elevation 47' (probably one of the lowest on the NE side.

Maple Grove Raceway - (reading) Mohnton PA. - Elevation 541' (about the same as Mason Dixon.

Leabon Valley Dragway - West Leabanon NY... Elevation 685'

Skyview Drags - Barton NY - Close to I 85 - Elevation 1279'

New york Intl' Raceway Park - Leicester NY - Near Rochester / Buffalo - ~2 Hrs from Niagara falls. 898' Elevation

ESTA Saftey Park Cicero NY (Syracuse NY) right off I 81.. 400' Elevation.

Just some thoughts - I am game for any of these tracks..

The NY ones might entice some Canadian racers - It is sure less of a drive to the heath clan!

Digest these and discuss - Also maybe someone can bring these up at the banquet in my absence Smile

This is not to take the place of an official Slant 6 race, but Seymour asked if we(Covalt Clan) would be interested in going to Maple Grove outside Reading,PA just to run in the regular program. They have a Mega Mopar weekend in June. And he said he may come in to go to something like that. If we do not schedule a Slant 6 race in June, then I may consider going to that. He thought it would be best not to try and get a race there this year , but this may open the door to one there in the future. If you would have any interest in doing something like that post back. This is a top notch facility from everything I hear.

I ran at maple grove once, won trophy class and was the fastest the Valiant ever went even with a slipping trans. The return road was really rough but thatr was around 5 years ago.
I would do my best to get to a second race anywhere in the MD, PA, DE, NJ, NY area.

I like the idea of a second Mason Dixon race late in the summer. Great track and program runs smooth. Pretty much ran unlimited test and tune runs one day. I would be in on running Friday night at South Mountain if we can get some people to show up.

I am game for either Maple Grove or the Mason Dixon.
