| I am looking to get a custom torque converter made to match my 68 transmission to my 67 engine.? Maybe someone has done this conversion and knows what I need? what other info should I know? Hughes said they wanted to know if the 67 is a 1.550 or 1.810 diameter, not really sure which one? If anyone has done this conversion any help would be much appreciated!

Best to call Edge Racing converters or Midwest Converters and tell them what you want. I have one of these from Midwest that cost $400 for a 2800-3000 RPM stall about 6 yrs ago. Probably can get a new one with stock stall for $200-250 or so.
You need 1.555" crank hub ID (converter snout) for '67-down Slant 6s.
I think that VirgilFan posted recently that he had a local shop in Maine that would build a stock stall one for like $100? Charrlie_S also said he had a shop in FL that would do custom converters pretty inexpesively.
Best, Lou

| What would be the recommended STALL? I have a stock engine with the 2bbl carb. I have been told 2000 or 2200-2400 stall.

Depends on what you want for the car. If max MPG is goal, then 1800-2000. If you want a little more kick, with a small hit in MPG, then ask for 2400.

A trans shop in my town will do one for about $175 exchange.
FTI racing converters, near me, does not normally do stock converters, any more. But they would do it for less then $100, if supplied with both an early and late style converter. I understand you already talked to Andre at Edge comverters, and he recommented changing the input of the trans to the early one. That is certainly a viable option, if you have the early input parts, and are confortable doing the job. Not hard by the way.
