For your entertainment, here's a few frames from the Harrison Ford movie "Firewall". I'll have to limit it to 500 downloads because of bandwidth, but if I scale them down later I'll post them here. An interesting segment shows the Dart flying over a wooden bridge, but if you look at the frames closely you will see that they simply stretched the space under the car to make it look as if it went airborne.

Boo, hiss. Movies wherein Darts get blowed up are poopy.

I say if the movie is great, a demolished Dart would be justified. Firewall was not such a movie.

This so weird seeing a housing for the elderly top conveyance choice for the late seventies turned into a theatrical device involving walls of flame. Green mid seventy’s Darts were the un-cool province of grannies and grandpas everywhere; it does not compute for these eyes.

I do believe you're talking about the likes of Vern and Bea:

Vern and Bea are from from U R What U Drive, 1987, by Tom Couch. I bought my copy around then and still have it. Some of the humour is no longer entirely funny because most of us now know better than to laugh at racism (Chev Caprice; low rider), some is timeless (VW Beetle convertible, Ford Country Squire, high rider, custom van, Pontiac Firebird, Chev Corvette), some is very much a product of its time (BMW 3er, Mercedes SEL, Porsche 911).

He doesn't seem to drive so well. He wadded up the '55 from '2 Lane Blacktop' in 'American Grafitti' too. Shocked

BINGO.

Slide ahead into the eighties, Vern and his main squeeze can be seen in the same green colored K Car. However somewhere along the way, for good or bad, Chrysler once again lost their old crone magnetism, as midsized plain Jane Buicks are all the rage with octogenarians these days. LOL
