Post subject: will this block bolt to my tranny? (Sun Mar 04, 2012 8:20 pm) Reply with quote

I recently bought a fresh rebuilt slant six block with casting number 2806830 1. Will this directly bolt to the 64 Ball and trunnion A833 in my 63 valiant convertible?

2nd unrelated question:
What adapters do I need to swap to the O/D tranny (my z-bar doesnt sit straight when I tried to bolt in the O/D with bigger bell)?

#1) the block will bolt up but will need the correct crank/flywheel/pilot bearing to make it fit...if you are going to use a pre-67 flywheel then make sure the rebuilder didn't use a 1968-1976 crank in the rebuild...otherwise you need a 1968-1987 flywheel.

#2) The Z-bar is offset because there is a 2-3" difference in how the motor mounts and brackets make the motor sit between the sandwich mount cars and the spool mount cars. You will need to make an adaptor
to change the bellhousing mount or will need to use an offset bracket like the early 70's cars to reposition the body ballstud to align it.

Thanks for the reply.
So if I get the 68 or later flywheel, it will fit in the small bell-housing on the 64 A833, with no other issues?
