i have a 77 Plymouth Volare. i recently snapped the passenger side torsion bar and finding it hard to track one down. I've heard that the Plymouth road runner and the duster have the same torsion bar setup. I am wondering if they are interchangeable? or if anyone knows a manufacturer or where i can find this part?

Enormous interchange on those bars; your easiest target cars will be M-bodies (Dodge Diplomat, Plymouth Gran Fury, Chrysler New Yorker Fifth Avenue), clear on up through 1989. First year this suspension system was used was 1976 on the F-body (Aspen/Volaré). Never on the A-body, always on the M-body ('77 LeBaron was the first M-body). Also used on the J-body (Mirada, Cordoba). Use www.car-part.com to search 1977 Plymouth Volare torsion bar and all the interchangeable years and models will come up for you.

If the Plymouth Road Runner and the Plymouth Duster cars you are referring to are the appearance packages on the Plymouth Volare Coupe, then yes, the torsion bars form those cars will fit. However, if you are referring to the A body based Plymouth Duster or the B body based Plymouth Road Runner, then no, those torsion bars won't fit. The A and B bodies used a front suspension completely different from the F/M/J/R bodies.

You can use torsion bars from 76-80 Dodge Aspens and Plymouth Volares, 77-82 Chrysler Lebarons, 77-89 Dodge Diplomats, 82-89 Plymouth Gran Furys, 80-83 Chrysler Cordobas, 83-89 Chrysler Fifth Avenues, and 81-83 Imperials.
