| Howdy from a South Texas slant sixer, well not quite a slant six owner yet. Tonight I should seal the deal on an 1/2 ton Dodge pick up with a slant six and granny gear 4 spd. I have been looking for one for quite awhile. Had a 77 with 3 on the tree, wished I never sold it. When I was 18 if someone told me I actually would be excited about gettin a slant six, I would've told them your crazy. Cant wait!!

Good luck on the new purchase.
Boy, If I had only kept some of the cars I sold years ago....

I figured this was as good a place as any to introduce another newbie to the board. Hi to everyone here, and hi to those who frequent slantsix.com.

looks can be deceiving...she does need some TLC on the body in a few places..fortunately one of my friends is all tooled up to run his own body shop out of his garage
Drivetrain...(currently)
MP .398" lift 240 dur purple shaft hyd. cam (plan to go bigger..somewhere around .490" and 260-270 dur)
MSD 6A ignition, wires, & Blaster2 coil and stock electronic dist (replaced the lean-burn dist and ignition)
clifford 3x2 headers to true 2.25" duals w/ flowmaster 40 series muffs
Supersix intake w/ BBD (Just got my offy 4bbl intake & Holley 390 cfm in the mail yesterday )
Stock trans (auto A999) and TC (plan to upgrade the TC to around a 2400-2500 stall when i go bigger on the cam)
Stock 8 3/8 rear w/ 2.76:1 gears and limited-slip (UGH--will be changing thos highway dogs to 3.55:1)
K&N 14" x 3" open element air filter
MP high-volume oil pump
And all the smog equipment "fell off" (ditching the lean burn got rid of about 2 miles of vacuum lines and..go figure, made it run MUCH better, with lower emissions!)
As I said I just got my offy 4bbl intake and Holley 4 bbl carb..but i am going to pull the head before i install them and do some work (im pretty sure i burnt a valve on #1 anyway (BBD throttle shaft wore out--running way too lean) Plan to have Ford 300 valves installed, mill the head .080-.100 to get comp up to about 9.5:1 (wont be sure on how much to mill until i take it apart and take some measurements/cc the head) and do some mild porting.
Ive been toying with the idea of getting 1.7:1 roller rockers, but at the current time am leaning towards getting a bigger cam instead.
After all is said and done i want to paint the block & head CAT yellow, the intake and headers silver, and the usual chrome suspects. However, before making the engine "purty" i need to get the body blemishes fixed and get the old girl a new paint job.
