Does anyone have suggestions on what throttle body to use on a 2bbl stock intake? I am going to be adding micro squirt to my truck. Looking around, the mustang 5.0 throttle bodies are pretty cheap and have a tps. Does anyone have experience with these? Or I guess a better question would be does it even mount up to my intake w/ w/o an adapter plate.

On a side note- I do have a 1bbl intake laying around that I could use.

There is no way the Mustang throttle body will mount to any slant six manifold, factory or aftermarket, without an adapter plate. That being said, the 5.0 car throttle body would be a great TB to use. Lots and lots of aftermarket options for air cleaners and replacement parts.

What does the pattern look like? I know that Holley marketed a series of Holley 2300 carbs as a bolt on swap to the earlier EFI 5.0L mustangs, not sure if Ford changed that in the last of the 5.0's. If so you would just need a super six intake and a Mr. Gasket #1937.

If you had a fair amount of brazing experience you could have a plate fabbed for the carb and open up the 1 barrel intake with a torch and then braze the new plate to the manifold...but that becomes a lot more 'involved'....

The Ford CFI throttle body uses the 2100/2300 bolt pattern. There is little to no support for the unit. A better bet is the GM TBI..Ebay has adapters for either TBI to the BBD pattern.

kesteb raises a good point- are you talking the cfi or the throttle body used with MAP/MAF Ford injection systems? I was talking about the MAP/MAF cfi throttle body.

I'm not looking to to TBI. I would like to do port injection. I was thinking more along the lines of this Just to have a simple TPS:

Or perhaps a throttle body from a 4.0 jeep?

The mid '80s TPI setups used a two barrel throttle body design - you could make some sort of adapter to fit it on a Super Six.

Windstar TB. Many V6 stang guys use these over their stock one, and its sized for a 3.7. Pretty simple, uses a pw idle servo, MS friendly.

I think the TBI throttle body used on the '80s 3.9L Dakota V6 is the same mounting flange as the BBD.

I used that TB on my custom slant intake. Strange throttle pull angle but well figure it out.

The TB off the magnum V8's is a large 2 barrel. you will likely need a small 2bbl to large 2bbl off the shelf adapter plate but then you can just run a round air cleaner off any standard 4bbl carb. (or a pressure hat off a ford diesel like I'm running.)

I screwed a Buick 3.8 tb to a BBD throttle base & hogged out a transition from the 2bbl "oval" to the Buick 1bbl. Then sealed everything up with JB Weld.
