Just got home at 5:00 this evening. We had a great time with our slanted family even though it was hot and humid!(Did I say I hate summer?) Great to see Rob back in the states again! I sure hoped to give Ron a better race in the final, but when I brought the car up on the convertor it pushed in just a bit & I knew I was toast. Either I could leave like I normally did and surely red light or try and delay my launch and try not too red-light! I did the latter and had a blazing .568 light! Ron passed me about half track and cruised to the win!
Congrats to Ron on another double win! Ron has a perfect season going!!!
Thanks to Ron and Kay for organizing this great race and for Kay and Barbara & the girls for feeding us. We missed some of our regulars this time, but it would not take much for this to become a 50 point race!

Thanks again!

Rick

This is one I wished I could have attended but car is apart and has a long ways to go. Glad everyone had a great time. Some really nice rides were seen at Empire Dodge. Congrats on the win Ron!

Rick that Valiant is so nice! I had to take a picture of it!

In no particular order...

It was great to see Norm Foster again! He was there with his son Bryan.

Norm bought and races Ron "Possum" Parker's '69 Dart. It used to be white with the name "Slanted Attitude" when Ron drove it. Norm wanted to make it more his, so he repainted it blue.

Either Rick, Ryan or Andrew Shank will have to explain this photo. I just found it on Rick's camera and figured I'd share it...

Here are "The Jacks" Everhardt. :D

Jack Jr. drives the '76 Duster and Jack III drives the '88 D100.

The Duster ran 11.21 and the D100 ran 11.17 Saturday. That could make for some cool Heads Up Father/Son racing.

Here are Mark and Tim Charapich from Marion, VA

Mark drives the '60 Valiant and Tim drives the '83 D100.

ValiantMomma is next on the list to have a Slant 6 car to race. Apparently she has her eye on a '63 Valiant for Mark to build for her...

Greg does a great job of documenting his build of "Ruster". I'm always impressed when I see Greg at the track. He is very precise and focused.

He was runner up on Friday. I got a couple shots of him reviewing the data on Ruster and an interesting bit of Slant 6 advertising he displays in the window.

The track announcer was calling Greg "Mad Max"...

Gary's well known red '64 Valiant named "Desperado" has been laid up for an engine rebuild, so he has been racing his bone stock '64 Valiant instead.

I'm not sure who Gary's talking to in the photo. Probably just some riff raff that wandered onto the track...

The Valiant was running 12.70s Saturday and Gary was cutting some good .0039 and .0332 lights. He won two rounds.

I didn't spend as much time as I would have liked getting to know Brian and his family. Brian was racing Romeo Furio's old '67 Dart 4 door.

He went to round 2 Saturday where he ran a 8.4418 on his 8.44 dial in against Rick Covalt. It was the closest race of the weekend with a .0029 Margin of Victory. Rick caught Brian on the tree and won the race with his .0577 Reaction Time to Brian's .182.

Charlie towed all the way up from Clearwater, Florida. He has finally retired his trusty '86 Toyota 1 ton with the little 22RE 4 cylinder engine. The truck has over 400,000 miles on it and is starting to return to mother earth along the lower edges, so Charlie is now towing with a mid 80's Dodge Ram. He says the gas mileage is about half of what he got in the Toyota, but it will do.

Charlie said he re-set another Nitrous record Friday and will be sending Seymour his time slips. That little 170 was snorting a "225" shot for the record. Nice number for a Slant 6. :D

I got to bunk with Charlie Saturday night and catch up. It was great seeing you again Charlie!
