Track management started things quite late today when the sprinkles began. We did not run earlier in the morning when it was dry. Got all of the qualifying sessions in and then it rained the rest of the afternoon.

Ladder was drawn up but no rounds run.

If I may ask, did they refund entry money or give rain checks for next.year?

Do they usually reschedule? Mason Dixon always tries to reschedule major events and you get a rain check for the new race

They were pretty unclear about rescheduling. It sounds like they will have our tech cards on file and will give us an entry next year for free? The track behavior was very frustrating. At least they called it for Sunday before we all had to stay around... There were 3-4 hours of clear track time where we just sat around.

I had fun running the 62 Valiant. Best was 14.53 @ 94. Launch RPM was 2500 and it only ran 2.15 60 ft so lots more in it. Pretty good lights considering I had not been on a track in a year. Nice that the RE71R autoX tires could hook it up with a decently high 2-step RPM. It did do one big backfire through the exhaust on the last practice run and blow the muffler to pieces. That was a loud ride home in the middle of Sat night, but Jeff saved me by giving me a set of ear muffs, which I combined with ear plugs.

It was so great to meet Jeff Kendall and his Dan (sorry, name?) and get to know them. Super folks. Also great to see Rodney and Diane, Greg, and Joel, and meet a new local guy (Tink) with a 69 Val.

Hope folks can make it to Motormile (Fairlawn, VA) on Oct 28-29 for our final showdown!!

Lou

RUDE!! You bought me that fine lunch, if you remember correctly!

I've been doing better lately. Down from 204 in 2019 to 192 yesterday. Goal is 180 (maybe 185 if that last 5 is too far of a reach...  )

I'm sorry to see the negative comments about the Clay City race and how they ran things. It hasn't been as smooth the last couple/few years.

The biggest disappointment is them kicking us out of our 24 year spot under the big tree! Sacrilege!! :x

The race at London, KY last year was very frustrating as well. They really could have done a better job of running that race. Charlie was so disgusted he left, even though he was still in it.

Hopefully the feller runnin' the MotorMile race in October will do a better job...

Clay City has always been hit or miss.

I will try to do better with Motormile... They have always been great in the past, and the new track management seems even more serious than the previous ones.

The First Few Years that I went to Clay city ( which was the 2014-2018 years) it seemed to be run smooth with no issues that I could remember... Just my car breaking, but when Ruster did not have problems it was fantastic.

It seemed quite a bit different this time around, the TNT on Friday was fine for me - no issues there.

I’m disappointed in the track operations as well. The best I can tell, they were waiting (hoping) for late arrivals that were never going to arrive and should have got the show on the road when they had the chance. They knew the weather was coming. Talking with locals I guess it’s their MO and it’s going to cost them in the long run. Tracks face enough challenges without pissing off their racers. The frustrating thing was the guys across from us knew something and started loading up, yet we were told "well...we haven't made a decision yet, we will let you know after a while", then only moments later, the announcement comes over the PA. I think the guys across from us got a text from other track officials.
I am however not disappointed in making the trip. I knew the risks and accepted them before I left Owasso. In my mind I was racing the TOP ET guys in the time trials and both times I won the finals!! It’s all good with me.
Great to meet Lou and see Greg, Rodney, and Joel again.
