OK I have a 1964 dodge dart that has a 1971 engine in it (5 freeze plugs)

I’m rebuilding a block that’s a 1963 block ( 3 freeze plugs)
My question is are the motor mount brackets different for these year blocks if so can someone show me what 1963 motor mount brackets look like …. and ….. if they have any for sale Send me your price.
At least a picture would help so I’m sure of what I need in the swap.

Thanks

The motor mount brackets are the same 1963 to 1966 (I don't remember about 1960-1962) and interchange on any year slant six engine.
One thing you need to be aware of, is the different size of the crank "pocket" between the 1971 engine and the 1963 engine. Depending on the year and type transmission this could/might be an issue. What are you using for a trans?

Thanks Charlie
Existing in the car is a 1971 block so I thought the motor mounts would be different for the block that I intend to install which is a 1963 block the new transmission is a 1965 and the end pocket of the crank Should not be a problem. So as I’m looking I would like make sure I get the right brackets before I try to make it fit.

Pictures would be helpful to see the difference.

And since I will need to find a set if someone has a fair price including shipping to Los Angeles please message me!

If the 71 engine is already in the car and not sitting at some funny angle or with jacked-up/modified mount brackets, then you already have the 63-66 engine brackets on that 71 block. Just swap the brackets onto the new block and you're done! The mount "bosses" and bolt holes on the block are the same for ALL Slant 6 engines, from 1959 to 1987 and 170 to 225.

As Lou said. Just remove the brackets from the engine that is in the car and put them on the replacement engine.
Make sure the crank pocket and converter snout match, and you have a 66/older oil pan.

If there are no rubbing/pressure/touch points from the oilpan hitting the frame, torsion bar, etc, then you can use that same oilpan and pickup on the replacement engine. Likely it is a 64 pan if nothing is touching.

OK that’s great. Helps to know that but at the same time I’m building a rolling cart out of an old K frame that I wanna bolt the new engine to so I’ll be able to do run tests and refinement before installing it into the car so I need a second set of mount brackets to bolt to the block of I can just make something that works for my rolling cart. I’m going to the Mopar spring fling swap meet on Sat and hope to find a set or I’ll post in the wanted page and see what I find. Thanks again for more knowledge!

I bet you can get a set on this site pretty easily. Have fun at Fall Fling! I went to that a few times when I lived in Pasadena and W. LA.

Thanks Lou! I kinda figured this place was the real place to look without over pricing like eBay felt like to me.

Pretty sure I have a spare set, if you don't find something locally or easily...

Mounts and brackets are '62-'66. The '60-'61 mounts (and K-frames) are different, and the other groups are '67-'72 and '73-'76.

Thanks, Dan. I haven't done much with the 60-62 "A" bodies, and nothing in the last 30+ years and my memory is not what it used to be.
