Welcome to the site!
I have a '78 Volare with a 225 slant six, and I am using a Weber 38DGES. It is a good carb, but I did have to jet it down.
Have fun!

Sounds great :P It is just the answer I'm looking for. Did you buy it as a complete package or loose parts?

can this kit be used on my car?

I did not buy this as a kit. I already had an Offenhauser intake on my slant six, and I was using another 2bbl carb with a Mr. Gasket 2 to 4 adapter. I bought the Weber carb that I'm using now from a member on this board. I'm also using a Lokar kickdown cable.
You can buy a Weber setup as a kit, or you can buy the pieces a little at a time.

I would suggest going to www.carburetion.com, they have a lot of stuff at reaonable prices.

If you have a 2bbl intake already, yes.

It would be easier and cheaper to rebuild the carb you have VS making up kick down linkage etc.

Defiantely need to do a tune up and check the old plugs. Do the simple things first.

The "Laughing " was a quote from your post, I just copied and pasted what you said. What do you want to know about your engine?

Sorry I can't sort your problem with the carb.

But I wanted you to know that although one of the posts had the word "laughing" in it - he wasn't laughing at you.

It was a verbal description of the emoticon that you used in your initial post - like this :D

See? A laughing emoticon

No one is laughing at you or your question, OK?

Good luck with your enquiry
Gary

Yes yes I know now, but it looked a little funny.

There is a little difficult with my carb problem when someone says that my vac hoses are wrong but I can not find any diagrams of it. The car is in bad shape now but I want to make it good again. Some just say that it is better to switch carter with Weber or Holley. Where can you find a repair kit for a carter 2681?

Spark plugs are new but the car sometime stalls and other times it runs just fine.

It is not a 2681. If there is no metal tag on the carb? You can't find the number.

Here in the U.S. carb kits are for many years. If you rebuild it make sure you carefully remove the old gaskets to match the new gaskets. The kit will have different parts for different years.

A kit for the Carter for a super six will work. The six got a 2bbl in 1976 to at least '78. Maybe all the way to 1980. Match the gaskets.

Someone correct my if I am wrong on the years.

I do believe this was established when I identified this number as a Carter BBD. Basically at the beginning of this thread.

That would be 2bbl start in '78

That would be a Carter BBD. You can find with ease a carter BBD rebuild kit. I have one with a part # 8-339-3. Check back with me if this don't turn up.

So the Feather Dusters made before 78 didn't have a 2bbl? I'll check that in the rebuild kit info.

That number on the fuel bowl is not a model number.

When I get home later I can get a kit number for a rebuild kit for the carb.

BTW if you want to throw away the carb? Let's discuss shipping to Tennessee!

From my experience there is 3 major problems with the BBD's. The tops and bowls warp. I flatten them on a belt sander.

The throttle shafts become a vacuum leak. This will cause a lean condition, and idling problems. Then they need to have bronze or teflon bushings installed.

The idle set screws will back out when they are older and the threads in the linkage get sloppy. I little RTV will hold them in place. I have had the screws fall out going down the road.

some say that they are not as good as either Holley or Weber. But I don´t know. I work mostly in diesel cars.

Thanks a hole lot for the link to the diagram

Can´t find anything with that number on ebay where do you get it and do they ship to denmark??
