Except for one thing....water jackets. Those are internal while the rest of the head is external. So the challenge in making a head, or welding up an adapted head, is getting the water jackets to not leak and to be properly placed. The beauty of casting is it allows you to make internal passages.

I don't think this one will have water, but we shall soon see! The similar-to-OEM head I thought might work is a "fat head" with raised intake ports and water box on the driver side - cross drilled and welded. I'm glad Mr Maw is making progress.

When the project started he was going to put it on an aluminum block, not sure how drag race friendly that would be?

He has also posted about doing a billet block.

Would it be possible to cast a piece of aluminum, with the water jackets from beginning ?
And then machining it how you want it .

Cast 50,000 heads? The first head is very expensive, the last head is almost free.

I understand, its a lot of work /money to cast a finish head.
But just to make the process more easy , just mold for the water jackets.
And then cast a piece of aluminum ( with water jackets inside..) to process in the cutter.
It was just a thought , :wink:
