Okay my engine needs to be bored out so I am going to need to replace the pistons. I have found KB239 which seem to fit the bill but everywhere I found them being sold comes in a set of FOUR!!! What do I do? Is there someone else or something else? Please help.

Do you have 198 connecting rods? (7.005 long c to c)
If not, look at Silvolite #1250.

I do not have 198 rods. I found some on eBay cheap cheap cheap. Can you recommend someone else who sells them? I like eBay but sometimes it is a crap shoot.

Also will these handle the 10:1 C/R I am shooting for?

KB239 pistons only work with the "long" connection rods...
Did you find pistons or 198 con rods on ebag? (the rods are harder to find)

I found silvolite 1250 in a .030 overbore. My machinist and I talked about 30 over.

My recent query about cast pistons and high compression yielded some great info - go here >

Sprag you are right that was great information. I am very happy to hear that the cast pistons will work. Now I need to figure out how far we are going to bore so we can pick a proper piston size.

My machinist used to build race motors and is VERY excited to have a motor being built for speed. Hopefully it will be done for the next race.

I've always thought of a secondary benefit of boring is unshrouding the valves, which in my pea-brain it equates to super-ultra-mild head porting for free! OK, not exactly free if your guy charges more (as he probably should) for going past .030"/.060" or whatever, but bigger is always better right?

I watched a movie called Hit and Run the other day and the main character had a great line.

Redneck at Gas Station: "I bet shes got Nitrous right"
Main Character: "Nitrous is for fags its got cubic inches."

You should be aware that using derogatory words toward groups of people is not generally appreciated on this site, and is not tolerated if taken to a high level.

We try to make this site a safe place for all people to talk about Slant 6 engines and related vehicles. Using certain language jeopardizes this free and comfortable exchange.

Thanks for listening,

Lou

Lou I am sorry I was quoting a movie because something Spragg said brought it to mind. Not trying to be derogatory.

Which by the way the very next scene is the girlfriend giving basically the same speech to the main character.

Interesting. Thanks. I have noticed that seemingly small things said or quoted on the internet can start huge wars, even if the posting person did not intend a certain meaning that was taken by the viewer(s).

I am hoping that in the near future the word "fag" will be as unacceptable in public as "nigger" (hurts to even type it) is now. Language is a powerful thing.

Lou

So I talked to my machinist today and he is pretty excited about where we are going. My question is there any reason I should not be able to go to 60 over? Will I have gasket issues? What about my head chamber? Will I need to increase it also?

No problems at .060 oversize...
It is always a goo idea to "mock-up" assemble the head to the empty block and inspect / correct any alignment issues between the bore & combustion chambers.
(The photo below is a .104 oversize bore)
