Am rebuilding (2nd time) 225 slant with A833 trans.Already Bored 30 over, has Aluminum Turbo Pistons and cam suitable for turbo.Gonna Buy the turbo this month,Going blow thru for minimum problems. This Is In a B150 Van looking for a little oomph, but most reliability. What suggestions do you fine people have for a suitable Carb? I heard there was a ideal holly 2 barrel? Have kinda already figured out extra fueling downside of turbo via Throttle plate or spray nozzle. Btw i'm old school and would rather not go EFI with computers and such, I drive in really remote areas of the country and reliability is paramount. :?

I would see if you can find an old 400 CFM Carter AFB and graft solid Thermoquad floats to the AFB float arms to eliminate the brass floats. Otherwise an Edelbrock 500 would be my choice with the same float modification.

I would vote for a Holley 500 2bbl. This will be the simplest, most reliable, and easiest to tune, in my opinion. Get an elec choke for a driver car like yours.

My turbo car has megasquirt EFI, so I have not done this carb with a turbo, but I have used it on every other
Slant6 engine I have built (stock to wild), and it has worked well in pretty much all cases.

Yes that's a 2300, and the 500 cfm should be list # 0-4412.

I would only use the 2bbl if you didn't have a 4bbl manifold and one wasn't in the budget. Others here can tell you about tuning the 500 CFM Holley 2bbl and how difficult it is to achieve decent performance and economy simultaneously. It might work with an aftermarket metering block where you can tailor the fuel curve, but the 350 is big enough and easier to use. Board member KenUSA did extensive work with a 350 Holley and turbo. Search for posts by KenUSA for details.

Studebaker used Carter AFB carburetors on their blow-through supercharged cars and they are supposed to be rather easy to work with. The 400 CFM versions pop up on EBay and with solid floats grafted onto the AFB float arms are quite reliable.
