For me personally, if I can't buy a fuel at a common gas station and drive cross country, I won't design my engine for that fuel. If you only drive locally and have a consistent source, maybe you have a different outlook.

Shaker223 and Ryan Peterson and turboram either only drive their cars (all E85) locally or trailer them, so fuel availability is not a problem.

I'm with Lou I drive my car everyday and have gone on plenty across state trips back and forth to school and home so I've always stayed pump premium. I don't mind my meth kit i only refill it like once a month maybe if I've been beating on the car lol. 1.5 gallon trunk mount tank only comes on 5psi boost and above. My machinist insists I should run race gas only but he builds race cars everyday I want a fast daily driven pump car. I'll sacrifice timing for pump gas!
