Signed up for that one.
August 12,13,14

https://www.scca.com/events/2000310-202 ... m-aeroplex

This is a Regional SCCA event, it was said the finest CAM cars from the Midwest states will be there.
There is also a series of seminars over the three days called The Starting Line Drivers Edge that is geared towards
drivers new to National Solo events.

A month away!

A national Solo Event would probably seem dizzying to me.

It is nice to have access to such an event so close to home.

Have fun!

Greg

There are 111 cars total entered, 37 in the CAM T class.
Other Mopars entered in CAM T include: '70 Dodge Super Bee, 70 Dodge Challenger. There are also a 68 Ford Torino, a 70 and a 65 Chevelle as well as other Camero's FireBirds and Mustangs.

The complete entry list with drivers and cars is at the link below.

https://www.motorsportreg.com/index.cfm ... AEB485C19F

Registration and Tech starts tomorrow so I will drive up for that. There is also a course walk.
The way that I understand the event is:

Saturday, everyone gets three morning and three afternoon runs. The two best times for each competitor by class are added together and the lowest total is the Saturday Champion. There is an award ceremony and dinner after the event on Saturday.

Sunday, everyone gets three morning runs, the best time is selected and the top approximately 1/2 of the group goes to the next round.
If there are 16 cars in the next round everyone gets two runs. The fastest run is selected and 1/2 of that group goes to the next round.
If there are 8 cars in the next round everyone gets one run, the best four times go on to the next round.
After the four cars run, the best time is the Sunday Shootout Champion.

After that they run the Champions from each CAM class against each other and an overall CAM Champion is determined.

The weather looks great for the weekend, should be fun.

Sounds like fun.

Seems that maybe sometime I could could come out to grissom for some Autox action.

Best of luck John!

CAM is the SCCA classification for Classic Americian Muscle.

Greg, that would be great, certainly there is room here where you could overnight.
Dennis can vouch for the accommodations.

If we time it right, we could Autocross in the morning and the afternoon with the SCCA at Grissom and Drag Race in the evening at Bunker Hill Dragway.
That would be a fun day.

Grissom and Bunker Hill are less than 5 miles apart.

I might just take you up on that John.

On Grüne Hölle, currently sorting pressure plate maladies and Converting to Hydro TOB while the whole mess was out. Hope to finally sort/ fix gas cap leaking on RH turns, upgrade the steering box as well as Motor Mounts in the next 3-4 Days.

Good luck!

Day One at the SCCA Tire Race CAM Challenge

Drove up to Grissom Aerpplex, it is an easy drive up US 31 about an hour north of Indy.
Sent the car through Tech. They look at it a little bit but it is more of a check list review that is the responsibility of the car driver.
There I also got my helmet barcode that is scanned at the start of each run as well as SCCA and Tire Rack decals that must be displayed on the car.

From there did three course walks. The course is pretty long, longer and in some sections narrower than the course I ran at the same facility back in July.

Also got the 68 Barracuda weighed
Left Front 805
Right Front 879
Left Rear 708
Right Rear 717

total 3109 with the front having 54% of the weight and the rear having 46%, this is with a fuel tank 3/4 full.
The CAM T class has a 3000 LB minimum, so I am OK.
The weights are without the driver in the car.

Parked next to the 70 Super Bee and spoke with the car owner - driver. A younger guy, said the car is an original Super Bee, not a clone.
When he got it was just a chassis, no drive train and the next stop could be the crusher.
Took it on as a project. Has a Gen 3 6.4L engine and drive train out of an SRT.
Pretty clean car.

I had a lot of favorable comments about the Barracuda, everything from folks walking over asking what it is to a couple of guys reminiscing about their Barracudas they had back in the day.
Certainly, several stories of slant six cars that folks had way back when.
