Looking at K-frame interchangeability between different generations of a-body.

Specifically looking at using a 74 spool mount in a 63. Is it possible?

Negative. It's too wide. A board member near Spokane once attempted to narrow a spool K-member for his early A-body, but threw in the towel AFAIK.

Two main groups of interchangeability: 60-66, 67-76, if I remember correctly.

I did a bunch of measuring a few years back, the basics are '67 and up chassis are about 2.5" wider, moving steering gear and t-bars, LCA/entire suspension out 1.25" each side. The engine mounting in relation to the frt suspension shifts the eng./trans back about 1.75"-1.875" compared to early-A's. These are the primary reason most headers fail to fit, but I heated, beated, & hammer welded/folded an older 6-1 MP/JR-Heddman to fit My '64 GT. It survived, but it ain't pretty, & that's with the manual box.
If You want spools, & I don't blame You, best to get the mt./brackets & make Your own frame brackets/braces.
