Thanks Zilla. I've tried to pay attention when all you fast guys talk and I've asked Lou a million questions.
SlantSix folks are good people!

Another night in Paradise. Took the car up to Calhoun for test and tune. I had done a little testing on the street running the car without the air cleaner. Seat of the pants felt faster and there were more RPMs on top. At the strip the times did not bear this out with the car running a best of 9.37 vs a best of 9.22 at Knoxville. I was somewhat disappointed but at some point during the night I remembered/realized that Paradise runs a bit uphill so this was little like apples to oranges. I gave it some more fuel and it slowed a few hundredths. I made 9 runs in all and fastest to slowest was a .053 difference. My best reaction time was .023. Best 60' was 2.045. My best 60'at Knoxville was 2.047. The car is pretty consistent. Now, I need to be.

Progress is being made!

I used to get fooled by the butt dyno a lot too.

Oh, the butt dyno or seat of the pants impression is popular in these parts! :) Don't cost nothin'.

After a few full throttle blasts and one all the way through high gear on the streets, all indications are that the Rat likes the Edelbrock 1406. Time slips will tell the tale. Can't trust my butt-dyno anymore.

Good to hear! I am probably going to try an Edel 4bbl on the White 62 at some point...

The time slips did tell the tale today.
With the 500 Holley 2V the Rat had run a best of 9.37 at Paradise, with a best mph of 73.80 mph and a 60' of 2.045.
Today with the 600 Eddy 4V it did a best ET of 8.92 with a best mph of 77.55 and a 1.980 60'.
Going back next week and try a few more tweaks.

Nice results, Brad. I am not surprised. The Edelbrock 4bbl carbs work quite well on these engines, both on the strip and street, without a lot of metering changes. Clearly you are flowing some air there...

I am not far off, out of the box, calibration.

Looks like a good heads up race with my 62 Valiant. I need to try a bigger carb on this thing at some point. The Demon "googly valve" carb on Project V has been working very well, and the two cars are sitting right next to each other in the garage...
