Okay. I've spent hours searching Slantsix.org prior postings for answers on how to paint my 74 Dart exhaust manifold. I've read too many sad stories about paint that did not stand up to the high temperature generated by the exhaust manifold. I have been to a dozen auto parts stores (NAPA, Advance Auto, O'Reillys, etc.) trying to buy a 1400 to 1800 degree manifold paint. I spoke to a Mopar guy at Year One and he told me to find Cast Blast High Exhaust Paint ($29.95 per pint) from NAPA or Eastwood. No luck finding and these auto parts guys even called their paint representatives. Today I think I found a solution.

I found a guy who builds high performance race engines. He blasted my intake/exhaust manifold clean a few weeks ago. This morning I bought a $6.00 spray can of Original Cast Blast cast iron gray from him. Seymour is the manufacturer in Illinois. While at this guy's race shop, he showed me some cast iron gray manifolds that had many miles on the engine and some newly painted engines. I plan to paint the manifolds tonight. What results will this Cast Blast paint yield? Am I wasting my time? I really hope this works. Any thoughts?

The only thing I have seen that holds up is Jet Coating, or one of the comercial coaters of headers. I understand your desire here, but it is very difficult to get paint to stick to an exhaust manifold with the very high temperatures that exist there. Let us know how it works. Maybe it will.

POR makes a super high temp gray that I used on my Dutra and on the cut down old ex. manifold half of the Dutra set. Staying nice and gray, darkened slightly after a while, but I am very pleased so far. Nice complement to my stainless exhaust lines. Worked so well I put it on the back of the brake backing plates to stop rust there. Course I have written before about how well the POR products have worked for me....Just use Metal Ready first.

I use Tech Line's Titanium coating. Best stuff I've found. You have to spray it on with an airbrush, then bake it.
