It seems as though I've heard that the dual Offy 1 bbl intake looks great on your car but essentially offers no performance gain...

Can anyone who has used one of these manifolds confirm or refute that?

How about when it is converted to dual 2-bbls?

I know Barry Harrison ran his car with 2 BBD's on it and was very happy with the way it ran.

I'm hoping to answer that question myself in a few months! :D
Otherwise, I don't see how you couldn't have a performance gain, and maybe even a MPG increase. More plenum area, more even distribution, More air/fuel. Lighter weight. I will admit I can see how hard it will be to synch those carbs, but it'll be worth it. A 4-bbl. would have more power. Dual 2bbl.....I think Doctor Dodge has that setup?
Different strokes for slanted folks......! 8)

Uh...where exactly is it that you've heard this dubious bit of advice? Because it isn't true.

These run pretty strong but high MPG and ease of install is not real good with this set-up.
There is one on ebay right now.

What isn't true? I said maybe on a MPG increase. And a 2x1 does have more plenum area than a 1 or 2 bbl intake. What did I say that was wrong?

Not you, BBB, I was referring to Slanted Opinion's having heard there's no performance improvement with the 2x1 setup.

Hey Guys,

Can't tell you where I heard that info... just one of the things I read somewhere along the way.

That's why I came to experts for clarification! :D :D :D

1 extra carb is an improvement in power by reducing pumping loss. Whether the manifold design is better or worse than the original determines whether you get a net gain.

I wanted to run 2x1's real real bad for a while. but my experience with dual SU sidedrafts on a 240Z and the pain of getting em synched right, led me to go super six. I still think they look really cool and get jealous everytime I see em.

I'm glad this subject came up as I got one at Carlisle a few years ago.
Now I may put it to use instead of it collecting dust. Just because I like Carter carbs, was thinking of using two of them,Somebody out there know anything good or bad about the Carters ?
