That's a nice '69 440 Cuda The B3 paint is a refreshing change from the more common B5.
You gonna make a '69 A13 Barracuda clone with your '67?
Have you priced the '69 A body 440 exh manifolds? I should ask, have you found a set at any price? If you do find some, expect to pay $1500+. They are also more restrictive than the comon 440HP manifolds killing 10-20HP.
A body 383 manifolds are easier to find, cost $300-$800 (depending on year) and will fit if you shift the motor over.
You need to talk to the 'Preacher'. When he had a 440 in his '68 Sox& Martin replica Hemi Cuda, he used a '69 383 A body K frame, mounts and exh manifolds. The yellow '69 A13 Cuda he owned from '70-'83 is/was on the cover of the Year One A Body catalog a few years back. You can meet him Sunday at church in Lady Lake on CR466. He keeps the Cuda and his Superbird nearby.

There's only one way I would consider having a RB A body, that's one with an Alter-k-tion front end. It solves a lot of the problems encountered when dropping in a RB motor.

And if you go with a good big block, don't expect that new 8.25 rear to last.

I'll give you some credit, it takes guts to cut up a NICE original car.

My wife said if another car entered the yard, the consequences would be bad.
Don't worry Don, I'm always here to bail you out and take on a new 65 =) I've got your back! (and will be watching mine with the wifey, so please make it a vert or cuda if you don't mind)

MJ
MJ I think you're outta luck. The Barracuda is going to my oldest son as his inheritance :D and since the youngest son was out of luck on the Cuda he said he'd take the Valiant convert 8) Of course he wants me to swap a V8 into it for him :!: The only swap it's getting is from a 3 speed to a 4 speed

Use a motor plate and a set of headers with a stock 440hp and that will put you into the 13's @ 102mph. I did the same with a 110k mile 1977 440 (put in a used HP)cam but in a 66 coronet wagon (4,100lbs with me in it) 14.56@96mph...same engine your car = mid 13's 103mph-ish

Who cutting up a Barracuda? Nothing needs to be cut. I planned on hugger headers.

13's? Is that all you expect? I've seen 2 different slants do that. For the trouble, weight, and sluggish handling I would expect no worse than 10's or it just isn't worth the trouble.

You've seen 2 different bone stock 100k mile slants with used parts parts run 13's and no hose? Show me how. For that matter it sounds like you can make a stock NA 440 with no hose run 10's....show me that too.

Bout as much as I believe a box stock 100,000+ mile 440 went into the 13's.

WTF does it matter anyway? It's Bren's car, his decision.

I ve changed my mind again. I am installing a jet fighter engine this weekend and installing one of those superbee wings and hug front spoilers. I hope to fly down the track 10feet above the deck. The track officals will have to raise the beams. :D

 :D

All this without cutting the car.

Then you guys are morons if you can't get an a body with headers and a 440 in the 13's....It ain't hard. I did mid 14's in a 4100 wagon....take out 800 pounds and it would be in the 13's

Don, didn't the adoption papers go through? I thought my dad signed me away to you last year when he came by? My ascension to son #1 should have been written into VA law at that point!

We need to have a wives of Mopar fans get together, so they will not throw us all out the door.

Oh yeah, and to stay on topic, David its your car, do as you will. I think you should sell it and buy a 4 door Lancer, they're just cooler.

Road test circa 1969 Super Stock and Drag Illustrated 1969 440 Cuda. Factory trim 13.75 @ 104mph....HMMMM looks like they had traction problems to me and could have gone a lot faster ET wise. Headers and slicks this is a 12 second car with a stock 440

It just takes money and/or time. I have a 64 Valiant that runs mid 12s with n.a small block. I drive it on the street when I am not at the track. My supercharged Dart I am hoping will be faster. Yes it does have a slant 6 in it

You know, this thread has really gotten off topic. We all have stories about car/engine combo's that ran super good or super bad for the time and money spent. It is Brennans car, he should do what he wants to do with it. Though I would like to see him spend a little more time on his combo, after all the money he spent.

I have a line on a 3000 stall converter. My question is, should I just install it and not continue tuning the carb untill its in or should I tune out this off the line bog and then when the converter goes in it will just be all the more explosive off the line?

You can continue tuning, but things will change when you put the converter in. Might be best to wait unitl it's in. Good to hear you're back in the game. Make sure the 3000 is rated for a Slant and not just a V8. Should be a pretty quick car when that goes in. I gained about 1 sec in the 1/4 when I installed my 3000 converter in the Valiant!
