I got my aus. Gasket and it looks good, however the ports don't line up. I first panic, then went to the website and found out that there is extra material on the exhaust side ports that needs to be trimmed away!!!!! What a PITA! Now i gotta tracre out the ports to trim, or is there an easier way??? Help!?!

Maybe lightly tap it with a small ball peen hammer? That's how dad made gaskets back in the old days.

well when you get your gasket you'll see. Unless you have a 13$ fel pro as a template you'll need to figure out a way to trace the ports on the AUS and cut out the difference, PITA , i used the felpro and called it a day, wish someone told me earlier....

I wish someone else that's had to or not, would chime in with having to trim the gasket. If I would have known I would have went for the Cox Bros. gasket.

Cant you take an x acto knife and cut the ports out while the gasket is on the head? Using the ports as a guide for cutting. Is there steel in that gasket?

Year does not matter: fitment is identical from the beginning of production clear through to the end. I've been meaning to ask the Australians to modify their tool so as to produce gaskets that needn't be trimmed.

Its hard to tell if theres steel inside, as its a kinda thick composite( i think)
but i guess i'll be giving mine away becuase i used the $13.00 fel pro. gasket.

I just recieved my gaskets and I also went and got a Fel Pro gasket to measure the difference. They must have already changed their dies. Mine is perfect! The only difference in them are the port size. The Ausie gaskets are an 1/8in. bigger around the edges of the ports.

That's a good report. Is there excess material along the ends and top and bottom edges of the Australian gasket you got, that might hit something like the water outlet/thermostat housing? Or have they cleaned that up?

24 5/16in. X 3 1/2in. rectangle and holes are not centered. Bolt holes are 1/2in. from top and 5/16in. from bottom. Looks like it will clear water jacket. Depending on how you put it on, there is a space of 5/16 or 1/4in. between end of gasket and first bolt hole. The way I would put it on would be the flatter surface against the head which, would be the 5/16in space on 1st hole.
