is there a way to get a supercharger for a slant that doesn't involve creating one from scratch? If there isn't then i guess i'll be giving you guys updates as i figure it all out on my own.

Because there is a company that makes a kit (magna something?) but I think it is pretty expensive. I think even the smallblock mopar guys have to scrounge for expensive custom stuff to run a roots supercharger.

I'm sure you can put together a decent setup for not too crazy of an amount. I think the crucial element is making sure the supercharger's snout locates the unit paralell to the crankshaft. All the other stuff could be fabricated for probably hundreds instead of thousands with a little resourcefulness. I guess it depends on what you're looking for.

Anyway, Id love to see pictures/video if you make it happen.

good luck

Kevin

I beleive it is the supercharger store that sales a kit just for the /6, maybe it is a D1 charger or something like that. But it is very expeincive to buy this kit & I am not sure what HP level the blower that they use is able to achive.

I hesitate to run a Super Charger on a inline six because of the extra forces that are implied to the crankshaft. With such a long crankshaft to have extra force pulling up on the end of it may be something that could cause the crank to break. I dont know that it would, but you see this in alot of V8 engines running chargers of this style ( the end of the crank breaking off). Infact they make a small block chevy crank that has the big snout size of the big block because of this very type failure.

Like I said I dont know if it would cause this on a /6, but for boosting one of these engine I think a Turbo is a much better choice. Really with a little shoping around it should be much cheaper also. Anyway, I might be wrong and you can show us another way to make good power out of these little engine. No matter what you do keep us up to date with your work.

There are a few guys running superchargers without any crank problems.

There is a member here running a GMC blower on his demon and is getting it sorted out and running very well.

The SC Store setup is for a Procharger and the whole deal is over $6K.

Dale Rose runs a Procharger on his race car and fabbed his own brackets. If you can do that you can buy a used one off E-bag and do it for considerably less.

yes i have run to types of blowers on a slant six, the first was a 4-53 detriot that is equal to a B.M. 144 UNIT it made 5lbs of boost and pushed the car to 12.30 at 109mph at 2500lbs(me on board). the second is a 4-71 gmc, which is giving me a hard time on head gaskets, i think i have that solved(steel or copper?) it runs 11.85et @ 111.65mph at 2650lbs. as for the fabircation, i made a stand to mount a complete engine on so i could weld up a manifold parrell to the crank,it`s not that difficult with levels and measuring tapes. the hard part is the drive, i made it all but if you could get some used pulleys that bolt to a b.b. dodge damper you will be way ahead of the game.as for bearing trouble i have none so far i hurt piston ring more than anything,so give it a try you will be surprised :D

how about just a crank driven blower to get more air at low speeds. has anyone ever tried it and if so what kinda of problems will i encounter other than having to switch to an electronic ignition with centrifugal advance.

Dude, that's exactly what Terry has. It's been posted all over this site. Use the search button. Also, go forth and read! Come back in a few weeks when you're caught up.
