Is there any good method to steaming the foam from car seats? How long does it hold its original form afterward? I ask because I'm installing the original buckets from my truck (okay it's my Toyota, but I figured you guys would my best bet for tips on restoration) and I can't get new foam for the seat backs, so I'm stuck trying to restore the original stuff.

I had read in the past that if seat foam is still in reasonable shape (not torn up or anything like that), it can be gone over with a vapor steam cleaner to help restore the original shape. Unfortunately, that's all I know as well. I was hoping some of the guys here might know more about it so they can offer me some pointers so I don't screw anything up.

Here's the deal, steaming the foam will expand it back to orginal shape, maybe. As far as how much steam and how long it's a trial and error thing. My friend says it won't last very long it's more of a poof it up so it looks ok as it's sitting there on the used car lot.Once the cells in the foam are "flat"they cann't really be "pumped up"again.I can give you some tricks on redoing it if you want.Sorry :(

Tips for actually restoring the foam, or making a new foam seat back?
