Converting a 440 RT to a slant? Wouldn't it of been cheeper to get a dart or valiant slant and fix that up? The R/T has to be worth alot, atleast I would think.

Ah well, good to see ome one respecting the Slant

I'm also not dissing you either. It's your car and your dream go for it.
And no, I have not bought a kit from an Ebay store. Good luck

dont rip on him to bad I currently have a #'s matching 71 roadrunner with the original hp440 in it and soon I'm converting to a turbo slant six 4 speed (I'm keeping the engine so I still have the value of the car but I cant afford to drive the car, and it is way to nice to let it sit.)

I bought a set of Federal Mogul hypereuctic pistons from there for a Magnum 318. I thought it was strange, because he had 2 different listings
for the exact same part number pistons (H 814 CP) but listed as a Dodge 318 he had them for $128, fora Jeep 318 (grand Cherokee) they were $118. So maybe search under Dodge 225 and Plymouth 225, or slant six and slant 6, some other way to look up the same part under 2 different headings.

Ok here is the story, Im a master ford tech, and DIE HARD mopar 1968-70 B-Body lover. I am a fabricator by trade also. I have FULLY restored a legit 1970 v code 6-pack 4 speed dana sublime suber bee, 1969 1/2 6-pack super bee and 1963 426 max wedge dodge 330.
I purchased AN EXTREME basket case, rot box 1968 charger R/T # matching 440 4 speed dana car 3 years ago off of an indian reservation for $6000. They were unable to drive the car into public town because it was not lisc. so they would drive it on the train tracks. After extreme abuse they let it rot in the wisconsin weather. The car was By far the worst charger out there, I replaced the roof, trunk, quarters, rear frame rails, front frame rails, torsion bar crossmember, full floors, firewall, front fenderwells, rockers, door jams, core support, hood, fenders, trunk lid and even the outside cowl. I can weld and fabricate anything. I fully restored the car and want a legit charger R/T I can drive to work daily. Thats why im building the 225 4 speed o/d. I dont want another car that sits in the garage.

That sounds like a great plan. To take a car that should be scraped and restore it is not an easy thing to do. Trust me... look at my web site and go to the Superbird page. I replaced everything but the roof and the VIN tag!!! Good luck with the parts, wish more had dealt with the guy before. I guess someone must be the guinea pig

That's the beauty of this hobby, you can do what you want cause it's your car! How cool is this? People start buying up the muscle cars and then dump the gas hogging power V8 motors for /6's conversions. The way the world is going, it could happen!

Cool project, but your not the first to pull a 440 for a 225. Here's someone that did it to a '69 Charger 500!
