they show bell housings said to work both on 318's and Slant 6's. I'd never heard of a bell housing that fit both Slant 6's and any V-8 engine.

I emailed the people suggesting a mistake and they insist that this BH has two sets of holes - one for the Slant 6 and one for the V-8. Hm.

That's a truck only bellhousing. Very large and heavy. Won't fit under passenger car floor, uses different clutch release mechanism, and has a low mounted starter.

Perhaps this is too obvious to post, but... It must be huge at the back end, because the front end is said to fit the same old /6.

The front is also bigger because the bellhousing face of a small block is bigger than the slant six. You have to reach into the bellhousing to bolt it up to a slant. The small block bolt holes are on the periphery.

As usual, Joshie has it described well. I have one left over from the great truck project and I have been trying to give it away for several years. I remember how shocked I was thinking I had it all undone, only to have to jack it up and go back inside to unbolt it. Even though mine was hot tanked no one is taking it...because of weight I reckon. It is about all you want to pick up by yourself! I think I am gonna add it to the old block and misc. cast iron parts and take it all to the metal buyer...

Oh come now. When I was only 3 I could carry a Model A engine and gear box from the front yard to the back yard all by myself with a Jack Daniels in one hand - and not even have to clean my overalls!!

Hey if you want to give that away I will be in the Carolinas end of October. I will definitely take it off your hands. I pulled one of these out of the junkyard about 10 years ago but it doesn't have the bottom portion. I have been looking for another so I can complete a project.

I live in Raleigh, pretty easy to get to from about anywhere. You can sure have it! It was hot tanked and stored dry. I took it out last weekend to put the starter on that Gmader was looking for. Heck you oughta take the starter too. And the crank that was polished, checked out and balanced. And a good drool tube head that was magnafluxed and hot tanked.
