Hi all,

I'm not having any luck finding this tool for rent, and can't really afford to purchase at this time. My question is has anyione come up with a way to effectively reproduce the results without using the tool??

Of course, if anyone has a USED set they'd like to sell, I may be interested in that...

Thanks in advance for any replies!!!

This is the lowest price I've seen for the real tool. It's the same thing Snap-On puts their name on. $143, but there really is no substitute. Most folks just take their block to a machine shop and pay the fee. A good friend owns this tool so I use his.

Right, the other problem is getting the block to the machine shop... looked into that and they do it cheap but getting it there is posing a problem. I suppose enough plastic will keep the upholstery clean in a brand new leased Jeep, eh?? :)

Upholstery? Jeep? Same sentence?

Now I know I'm getting old!

How do you hose the mud out?

Wrap it up in a couple big garbage bags. Toss some towls down in the back, maybe some newspaper. Strap it down good. No Sense having it come through the seat backs when you hit the brakes.

Yeah, Jeep Liberty... I think getting the block into the back of the SUV is gonna be easier than listening to worries over his upholstery!!! But thanx for the ideas man!!

Twiggster,

What with the pretty jeep and all, I'd rent a small trailer. Several places here rent a $15 for a 1/2 day size small trailer for cars to pull. I even used one myself when my truck was "down" and I needed to take 4 blocks to the metal buyer place.

some places like Lowe's rent a chubby pickup truck for about $20 for a round trip...

good luck... last time the machine shop laughed their A$$ off, the behind on the duster was draggin'... but the crank was on the passenger floor the head was wrapped in some old bath towls, the block fits nicely in the trunk, and the rods were in a box in the back seat....

Duster the next generation SUV...
