Just how effective or ineffective is a 9.25 inch clutch behind a 225 compared to a 10 inch?

With these over sized tires I definitely get some slip at times. On the other hand, chances I will drive competitively range from negative one to negative zillions and I will be reducing my tire size.

So I'm just trying to find out how marginal the 9.25 clutch really is. I have a good local clutch shop. Should I think about having heavier springs put in?

Thanks

A good 9.25" unit with heavy springs should have some holding power. specclutch.com has a kit for the Slant now that will hold up to at least 300 ft-lbs, and more if you pay for an upgrade.

I have a 9.25 clutch in the Valaint...

It has a McLeod disc with stock pressure plate. Im rough on things ...and was popping springs out of the stock disc.....but was not encountering slippage.

I think proper gear selection is the key to lower mass clutch units. (Dont try 200hp with a 3spd and 2.45 gears and big tires.)

Whren I launch my car I let out the clutch at an idle....then mash the pedal. .....requires tuning.

no....the springs in the stock disc used to break when I did burnouts by dumping the clutch at high RPM.

It now makes enough power to do smokeshows by just flooring it in 1st gear. (5 speed , 175+hp , 2700lb car)

I can now break my clutch or trans or motor mounts by doing high rpm burnouts......so I avoid that.
