I posted a while back about a shifter problem. I got a new shifter and now its shifting fine but now I have a new problem. It shifts into first fine but when you let out the clutch all you hear is a grinding sound and the truck does not move. I double checked the linkage adjustment and they are all fine. All the other gears work. Is my tranny shot??

This is a 833 4-speed right??

Here is a test, select first gear then go under the vehicle and remove the shift rod from the side cover lever, the lever should not move when you do this. you should be able to stick the shift rod end right back into the lever's hole.

If the lever does move and travels further into the detent, then start the vehicle and see if you now have 1st. If you do, then there is something wrong with the shifter or the linkage adjustment. If you still get grinding, there is something wrong inside the gearbox.
