Somewhere I have a link to an article about the first race. Oddly enough, it's posted on a corvair site.

Actually found this site to have the information I was looking for: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Plymouth_Valiant
Apparently there were two races, a 10 lap road course and a 20 lap oval course. A crash in the second one wiped out 4 of the valiants, which is why they only finished 1,2,3 in that race. The 1-7 finish was during the road course event.

THIS one?

I love the lead pic: Three '60 Valiants leaning around an infield turn.

Thanks ValiantOne. The Slant is a great model. Might be fun to cast some resin "Hyper Pak" options for that one at some point.

There is a good article on the racing Valiants in the Slant Six News March/Spring 1993 issue number 51 by Jack Poehler. Lots of good pictures. The first race results the Valiants finished 1st thru 7th ,and race#2 they finished 1,2,3. Great job on those model kit engines! 8) I have built both those kits my self.
