Post subject: sl6 4 speed bellhousing
PostPosted: Tue Sep 09, 2003 4:40 pm
I have an alluminum bellhousing that I was told is from a slant six four speed. The bellhousing looks like a nomal slant six bellhousing but it has an adapter plate bolted onto it. The plate does allow the attachment of a four speed, but I was wondering if this was original or some kind of aftermarket set-up. If anybody out there has run into this before I would like to know. thanks

Can you post some pics? This sounds very unusual, and may be a custom fabrication.

You didn't say where you were from. I made one, about 30 years ago. I sold it to another Mopar buddy about 20 years ago. If you post a pic, I think I'd recognize mine.

I agree with James - looks like it would fit an 833 4spd.

I looked at some /6 manual tranny setups at the local wrecking yard last week and was surprised at the variety that I found. Cast iron bellhousings, 3 speed and 4 speed trannys, and several different starter locations! I had no idea there was such diversity in the /6 bellhousing world.
